FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY CAN I GET A FREAKIN' BREAK HERE!?!?

This race had better not be canceled or else I am going to freakin' flip out. I cannot handle another potential race cancellation.

First the Chicago Marathon.
Then Kansas 70.3.
  • ..I may literally lose it. Must.Stop.Reading.Weather.Reports.

  • If this falls to pieces I only have one more chance at a 70.3 this season...and it'd be the freakin' great illini. ARGH.

Rain is fine. Hopefully the lightning will not make its presence known.

If they stay there, it should equate to warmer/calmer water?

    That'd be nice!

Question: Since you have to rack your bike on Sat. what do you do as far as filling tires on Sun. Bring your pump? but then where do you put the pump? I'm assuming bringing it back to your car will not be an option. Leave it transition? but there's not a lot of room. When I get nervous I start to worry about all sorts of things.

    a. they were set up as far down as where the HIM starts all at the same distance out

    b. that's kind of what I was thinking

    1. Lots of people will have pumps to borrow....or

    2. I plan on running mine back to the car as part of my warmup...

was thinking the same thing onthe pumps...

it's supposed to rain all day saturday...does that mean our bikes will be wet on sunday? i LOVE my bike and don't want it to get wet!

Sunday, according to weather.com there's a 30% chance of a scattered storms...that sounds doable to me.

Giant Trash bag if you want to cover the whole thing.

I usually just cover my seat, chain, and handlebars.

Is the parking close? I won't be one of the first people there since I have an hour drive so was anticipating having to park IN A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY....

You'll catch me in the swim and then crawl over me and push me down as you go past, then fly up the preliminary hill out of T1 and burn up the road.

    Ditto!

amyjotris...talk about a brutal day that was. weather HAS to be better this go around. Plus the bike course will be SO much easier in comparison. There's what...less than 1000 feet of climbing in Racine?

Oh...and...try not to obsess over it the next few days (easier said than done though).

You can't change the course and you can't change the conditions. Just because it's cold or hilly or hard or rainy or humid or whatever, doesn't mean you're NOT going to go out and get it done. Because you are...because that's what triathletes do.

I just read this (I know, I'm sooo busy at work...lol)

What? you come out of the water soaking wet jump on the bike and take off. Spill sportsdrinks and water all over it when riding. But you are afraid of some rain???? hahaha just messing with ya. pre-race humor.

At Rockford I did a 6:03. I am planning on improving my team.

    Swim: 00:34:00
    T1: 2:30
    Bike: 2:48:00
    T2: 1:30
    Run: 2:00:00

    Total: 5:26

This is a goal and may be too high given Rockford, but really looking at the splits the only one with significant improvement is the run. I believe I can do it, but we will see.

Just got back from a little recon and packet-pick-up action...

Expo was just getting started, but a few nice looking booths.

Packet pickup was pretty smooth and not too crowded - bib number 995, here. Jawed with some gal in town for an internship with SC Johnson (from Baltimore) and a father holding a line spot for his daughter, all the way from the San Fran Bay area. Seems this race is upper echelon and a destination event!

Lake was CALM! Let's hope for similar tomorrow and Sunday.

Ride up Main Street was a tad bumpy, as well as along stretches of 5 Mile road - not much we can do about it anyway, just an observation.

Didn't test out the water temp, but saw some dude getting pulled on an inflatable sans wetsuit. HAD to be COLD!

Good races to all the Sprint folks tomorrow, might see you during bike reg, and same to all the HIM participants on Sunday. Look forward to seein' the Donks and other BT'ers.

    hmmmm...... finishing predictions........

swim: 50 minutes (slow, but hey - it's STILL 17 minutes faster my Florida 70.3)
T1: 8 1/2 minutes (long run to the bike, breakfast, and, oh yeah, get on the bike)
bike: 3:10 (somewhere around 18 mph is what I am hoping for)
T2: 5 1/2 minutes (lunch, change shoes, and then attempt to run)
run: 2:10 (no reason, that's just it...)

That would hopefully put finishing time somewhere around 6:30.. not fast by any means, but still would be a PR by 45 minutes....

more importantly, I am going to try and actually STICK to my nutrition plan.... yeah, I said it... I'm gonna keep to nutrition.... almost guaranteed.... I think...... I'm going to try........ maybe... though I'm not sure what that entails yet..... (they say 'nothing new' on race day, but sticking to a nutrition plan, ANY plan would be new to me... AND the new saddle..)

So one of my good friends was at North Beach today and said it was too cold to even put your face in- most people swam out to the first bouy and turned around.   He did Alacatraz too- so he wasnt just being wimpy
So I wonder how far theyd make us run if they change it to a dual?  Maybe they will shorten the swim.  Maybe it will get 10 degrees warmer by Sunday   Damn I never thought Id say I WANTED to do the swim.  damn
