today is the first day i'm starting to get nervous.

my husband isn't going to be there with me for this race. and i'm FREAKING THE EFF OUT.

It was starting to look like I wasn't going to be able to do the race due to lack of transportation. I'm just eternally thankful that my friends are going to be driving me there from Chicago at 4am on Sunday. Anyone know what time transition opens/closes before the race?

I'm with you. Not only am I now getting nervous, my first HIM, it looks like my husband will not be there either. I hate doing a race and not having him waiting at the finish.
I'll be staying at my mom's in Libertyville the night before to cut down the drive.

You should come find me the morning of...we can keep eachother company!

That would be great. Nothing like standing around, nervous and not having anyone to talk to.

Last year's SOR HIM was my first triathlon ever, and I was solo the whole time and didn't know anybody at the race, so I can see being nervous and somewhat scared.

Just look for some Donkey/Tri-Donkai racing tops - we're friendly and can hope to ease your worries a little.

I'll be in neon green...Maplewood MultiSports Club short and shirt.

my husband and kids will come down...but we haven't worked out the logistics. i guess he's going to HAVE to drive me to the transition area from the hotel, it's too far to walk (i think)

Seriously. I fully expect for everyone and their dog to pass me on the bike leg. So when you see me...comment on how cute my @ss is and then tell me to pick up the pace.

Here I am...I'll even be wearing the same race getup, too.

Just checked the Lake temp this morning and the website said it was 34 degrees. Can you even swim in that?

I am getting anxious.

My palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There's vomit on my sweater already, mom's spaghetti
I'm nervous, but on the surface I look calm and ready .....

- Love that song.  See y'all out there on Sat/Sun!

I am not a participant, so that made me giggle.  Remember, cloud cover makes for incorrect temp interpretations.

Accuweather says a chance of a thunderstorm at 11am....that would be nice to cool down the run!

I'm not happy about the prospect of rain. I'm not the best "technical" rider. Wet roads = no brakes=me going ridiculously slow.

Hey Peeps

I drove by the lake at lunch and the buoys are in the water, the only thing is they look to be set 1/2 the distance closer to shore than normal . They looked to be place and were right in line with the normal swim area buoys (30-50' from shore) the city of Racine uses.

If they stay there, it should equate to warmer/calmer water?
