Sunny
Total Time = 8h 00m
Overall Rank = 106/266
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 13/23
Pre-race routine:

Hung out. Ran into Birkie, Bikergirl and Mr and Mrs MNDiver as well as Sal.

Nothing much with respect to swim/bike/run. Hyrdrated a bit.
Event warmup:

Got in the water a bit.
Swim
  • 40m 42s
  • 2310 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was my first race of the year and I was so out of control with respect to navigation. Sad stuff really, but I kept telling myself the swim is just a warmup.
What would you do differently?:

Navigate better. I was all over the place.
Transition 1
  • 02m 10s
Comments:

Lollygagged a bit, but didn't seem too bad.
What would you do differently?:

Be a little quicker I suppose.
Bike
  • 2h 46m 54s
  • 56 miles
  • 20.13 mile/hr
Comments:

I followed the plan. Didn't exceed 270 watts on the climbs and just got the job done. Pretty nice time considering the last 5 miles were into a brisk breeze.
What would you do differently?:

Not much really, I was pretty pleased with it.
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Not a bad T2
Run
  • 1h 59m 23s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Gotta like the fact they had coke and endurolytes at the aid stations.

I told myself going in that if I could finish under 2 hrs I'd be OK with it, so I am.
What would you do differently?:

Be more fit going in.
Post race
Warm down:

Hopped in the lake. What a mistake that was. Water was freezing.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Run was hot and I wasn't all that well prepped for it. This was my 2nd longest run in about 6 months.

Event comments:

It was good to see Bryan, Sal and Emily as well as Kelly at the race. Contrats to all of them (cept Bryan) for completing a new distance.

Great job Jeff.  That is an awesome time even if you seem "aw shucks " about it.  I was starting to think I would be able to hang with you at Moo for awhile.  Not anymore, I'm seeing a sub 12 hour finish for you.  Great job. It was nice meeting your wife today also.

Great race, Jeff!  And you seemed so calm and collected pre-race.  I'm impressed.  It was hard to sight on the swim with the waves too.  Several people commented the return swim especially was difficult to navigate.

Nice job on the race!

Not too shabby bike average for just "getting the job done"

Good race. There weren't many places to hide from the sun on the run course, glad I wasn't alone feeling the heat.

Jeff, you had an awesome race.  You're gonna be ready for IMOO.

Thanks for nagging me to bike this season.  I should have taken your advice...
