Pre-race routine:

Nothing in particular, drank lots of water throughout the day and took some NSAIDs for my joints in case they decided to be uncooperative.
Event warmup:

Walked/slogged about a mile at an easy pace.
Run
  • 33m 46s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

Although I only knew Christine from BT, her love of life, encouragement and determination, all evident in her posts and inspires, touched me, as it did so many others.

Throughout the run I thought about Christine's strength and courage and that of her husband and sons. I didn't bring my iPod as I wanted to just be alone with my thoughts and take in the beauty of my surroundings. Given that I've had to limit my running significantly, I felt pretty darn good out there. I didn't have any red and white balloons to release at the finish but there was a group of kids there who were releasing balloon rockets which seemed like a perfect ending.

Rest in peace, Christine.
What would you do differently?:

Run more if I could, but the bottom line is that I am thankful for the things I can do and try not to dwell on the limitations I have right now.

You have a fast "walk/slog." (Did you wear pink? Judi said she wore purple and white. So I'm thinking that pink with rhinestones (or better yet, diamonds), would have made for a nice outfit.)

Glad you were able to run/walk/slog today.

Wish I could have seen the balloon rockets. Bet those kids were having fun.
