The runner on my team has a stress fracture and not sure if she is going to be ready for the race.  She has 2 weeks to figure it out before they don't allow you to change (which seems odd because it is a relay, but whatever)

We ended up entering late so had to do the "charity" slots and per person it was 133.50 which includes the active.com fee + 10 temp USAT license.

Let me know if you might be intersted,  The deadline to change is Aug 14th.  The race is September 14th in DC.

Worst case, I can run, too.  However, it would be more fun with more people.

If you still need someone I might be able to, what's another 10K?

I'm volunteering, so I'm heading to the race.  Depending on what time you guys are looking to get there and what time I need to get there you guys can carpool to my place and I can drive down to DC.  I'm used to the traffic and even better - I know a lot of back roads

Either way this should be an interesting scene getting downtown.  I belive they have 3500 entrants which is 3x what they had last year  Not sure where they are going to park everyone.

Maybe.  I think I'm driving up on Saturday and staying overnight with a friend, so I don't know how that would work.

It will be open, but probably not as early as is really necessary. It opens later on Sundays. For "big" races like the Cherry Blossom 10-Miler and of course, the Marine Corps Marathon, they open it early. Hopefully they'll do that for Nation's, since the event is gaining popularity.

Well, good to know it will be open for Marine Corps.  I guess if it's not open for the tri my husband will have to drive me to transition and then go back with the car.  I kind of just assumed it was always open.

yeah, i wish it was open 24-7 like in nyc.  but it opens at 7am on the weekends unless it's changed, which is just too late for competitors.  i don't see why they won't open it early though.

Probably because it is not cost-effective.  For MCM, you've got how many, an event cap of 30,000 or so.  I don't know how large the event cap is for Nations Tri, but I doubt it is much more than 1,000.  and how many of those 1000 would schlep their bike on Metro?

I'm not saying that if I was doing the race, I wouldn't want Metro open, but that is probably why.

Wow! That's big! And cool, for a city like DC to establish a triathlon like that Now if only the Potomac weren't so nasty...

This is true. I would NEVER EVER swim in any body of water remotely near NYC.

It was worth it, though.  The NYC tri was so much fun.
