You get a t-shirt and a finishers shirt when you cross the finish line.  The finishers shirts are technical T fabric, so that are pretty cool.  A medal obviously....Umm i honestly can't remember the rest of the stuff.  Oh i think some sort of bag.

Yes, i am going crazy..... i did a S/B/R today and it was sunny and 70º .. i wanted to bike a lot more but had to cut it off. I did my first open water swim today (1200y) as well that was not involved with a race haha. I'm really glad i did because it is a different feel.

I feel like i need to be doing more this week....do you guys think i'm doing enough for taper/ to keep legs going etc? it might be that i cut out weightlifting this week as well....

F- 2600y swim / 6.4m run

S- rest/study

Sun- 1:15m on trainer pretty hard

M-test day was tired from not sleep 15m abs/pushups

T- sbr - 1200y swim /14.5m bike/2m run  in race apparell and open water.

W- I will probably run 4

Th- Swimming with wetsuit (1st time over 10minutes haha) ... at least 1000y

F- run 1.5m and stretch really good.

Any thoughts? what else did people do for taper? i guess i'm just wondering what to do today wednesday... b/c i was going to bike again like 15-20... but i cleaned my bike inside and out and don't want to get it dirty really (and i have a lot of school work to do so a run fits better) (4hr/5hr/5:30hr of sleep last 3 days doesn't help)

Looks like you're on the right track.

I keep the same sessions for my taper, but cut the volume by about half for 3-5 days. So tomorrow I usually run 20 x 1'(1'), for taper I'd cut it to 10 x 1'(1'), same pace. I'm under the weather right now though, so I'm not doing anything.

remember: form = fitness + freshness

It's too late to increase the fitness component, but you could easily mess up the freshness part of it.

I'll report on my experience...  It was truly awesome.  This was my first half iron distance, and I loved it!  Based on my training and HR zones, I was planning on trying to come in around 6:24.  I wrote down all my estimated splits for my wife so she would know when to look for me.  Well, things went better than I anticipated and I came in at 5:52, more than 30 min faster than I had hoped!  I was so far ahead of schedule that my wife missed me at the finish line.  Anyway, I felt strong through the entire event except maybe the last 2 or 3 miles.

A big thank you to all the organizers and volunteers of this event.  It was really well done!

How did everyone else do?

TT
