Just got my car to drive down Friday. I should arrive about 6ish to get my packet and find a soft spot on which to set up my tent or just lay down my sleeping bag.

Everybody still good to go?

My husband, son and I will be leaving around noon or one on Friday.  Should be down there no later than 4.  We're now at the Holiday Inn Express.  I guilted my family into coming.

Can you guilt some friends to strap for me, too?

Oh and I signed up for the prerace dinner since I'm not even sure if there's a restaurant within 20 miles.

Well, I can loan you my 4 year old.  Can't carry much but I'm sure he'd be delighted to ring his cowbell for you!!

I think we're going to do the dinner too.

Kiss  High of 76 degrees low of 53!! Kiss

I'm thinking we will be leaving around 10 am here in Memphis. No family coming with me either. Just a few friends that are racing too.  I'm not sure what the plan is for dinner. I wish I had a BT tattoo. Hopefully I will meet most of you.

Any ideas on how we should meet up at the pre-race dinner?  Anyone got a BT shirt they can wear?

I have my BT shirt. I'll wear it, and my two goggles.

Oh and my cell # is 402-319-5481 if anybody needs it. Yeah. I'm not shy.

Yeah sorry I missed everybody. I tried to talk to a lot of people. I got laughs out of some and hate out of others. Good day, though. My RR is up.

Hey guys, I noticed you did this race this year,  I am planning on making this my first half ironman in 2009, you got any suggestions about where to stay?  Where to eat?  How was the swim?  Bike?  Run?    Would this be a good first half iron.

Thanks,

Kevin

It was a good race. I slept in my car. Not the wisest choice since I woke up every few minutes from discomfort or a passing car or something. Oh well. Swim is great. Bike is kinda rough as the roads are rural, the wind sucked but that varies year to year I'm sure, and the run is through corn fields. But it's on time, has good support, no finisher's medal that I can recall. Nice T shirt though. No crowd support since there's no crowd. If you need crowds to keep you going then don't do it.

My 2 cents:
I'd say it's a great experience overall and you should do it.
