Expert 1014 Virginia | Subject: RE: Women's Gymnastic All Around ah yes, the reason i'm going to be sleep at my desk today i was so proud of our girls!!! on warm ups i noticed that nastia was out of bounds almost every pass so i was so nervous for her routine. but she did a great job! shawn also turned in a spectacular performance to get the silver. very very great night for the two of them!!! |

yeah i definitely noticed that. through the whole competition, he would high five shawn's coach after her performance. but it sounds like nastia and shawn are actually good friends off the floor, so i'm sure he was still happy for her to do well (just really really happy she wasn't scoring well enough to beat nastia). |

| Elite 2998 Fishers, Indiana | Subject: RE: Women's Gymnastic All Around They mentioned it on TV, but I do think it is neat and representative of the US (and this doesn't have to do with anyone else or comparing...just representative of who we are as a nation) that our All-Around champion was born in Moscow, grew up as a Texan, coached in TX by her Russian dad/previous gymnasts for Russia, and our Silver Medalists is Iowa born and coached by a former Chinese gymnasts who came to the US and opened his own gym! I think it's great and shows how so many different backgrounds can find an American dream if they work hard for it. |

They are pretty good freinds. There was a point last spring when Nastia came here and they were going to Shawn's club and hanging around together. The paper covered it a lot.
