Swim
Comments: This was actually a very good swim for me. If you subtract 2 minutes for the 450 yard run to transition then it is, by far, the best swim performance I have had in a triathlon. Yeah, I know, it is pretty pedestrian but my swimming has come a long way this summer and I am pleased. It put me on pace for my 2:30 goal. Transition 1
Comments: Couldn't find my bike right away and started to freak out a little bit. Good transition. Wetsuit came right off thanks to Pam (the oil, not the person) and I was on my bike pretty quickly. 53/402 in my AG. Bike
Comments: I had hoped to maintain a 22.6 mph speed but the wind made me reconsider and I would have been happy with a 22. I went out and lost my water bottle on mile 1 (the roads were the worst I have ever ridden on - I am sure European cobblestones are less destructive). So by mile 2 I was very frustrated and started to take it out on the bike pedals. When all was said and done I actually had a great, great bike split. I was not too tired but I was definitely parched and borderline dehydrated. I was surprised to see the results and find that I was 16th in my AG and 107th overall on the bike ... running is my strong event and I just started cycling about 2.5 years ago. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition. I was fortunate to have my bike rack immediately next to the Bike-In/Bike-Out. I did not have to run thru transition with my bike. I was 28/402 in my AG. Run
Comments: Well, I had the perfect race going until the run. I stopped at the water station outside of transition and tried to get as much fluid in as possible since I just rode the ride of my life with no water or g-ade. 2 miles later I had the worst abdominal cramp I have ever experienced. It was right below my right rib cage and I had to stop on two occasions because the pain was stopping me in my tracks. It subsided after mile 4 but it was still there. My splits were 7:55, 7:39, 8:54, 8:26, 8:03, 7:57, 1:32. As you can see miles 3 and 4 were painful. I had visions of running 7:30s but it was not to be. Post race

Racked bike at 4:15 AM and went back to hotel for nap. Ate a bad muffin and a good coffee from the Starbucks in the lobby. Headed over to swim start at 7:30 for 8:21 wave. Had visions of breaking 2:30 today. It would depend on a) a good swim, and b) advances in my running.
No warmup as there is no place to swim.
