Subject: Favorite drink?

Hi all,

I'm overwhelmed by the about of sport drinks out there -- I normally drink gatorade endurance and seem to deal with that well.  Should I try out different carb drinks between now and my IM?  (I'm training for IM Cozumel 2009)  Which ones do you recommend?

Thanks!
Trish

My new favorite is the FRS energy drink that Lance Armstrong is endorsing. We got a free sample pack and now I am totally sold. It has helped me through my brick/long workouts without problem. For electolyte replacement I just stick with Gatorade. I like it and it seems to work for me okay.

I like GU2O (made by the makers of GU). It is light, not sugary-sweet, and made for endurance athletes.

If you can tolerate the gatorade endurance then I say stick with it.  I'm assuming it's what they will be using on the course at Cozumel, so it will be the easiest drink for you race with.  No need to make things more complicated than they need to be, right?

I wish I could keep that stuff down!  I use Perpetuem and HEED, although I wouldn't recommend it.  Perpetuem is super nasty, but it works.

Seconding this - very light and tasty flavor, and usually one of the most cost effective drinks. (I can usually get a tub for around $11 or less when Performance is having their 10% sales)

Favorite just to drink is gatorade.  Drink it with meals and whatnot.  But in terms of performance and race day and such...I drink a HEED and Perpetuem mixture.  Not the best tasting, but gets the jobs done well.

For my long runs and bike rides, I prefer Gatorade mixed with an equal amount of water.  By itself it's just too sugary.

Gatorade, but I buy the powdered kind and add more water than recommended. I like it a little watery, mostly because I have stomach issues if it's full strength.
