I was amazed to see that I was fairly close to the starting line for the swim, yet I swam alone for long stretches, I should have started later since the entire field passed me on the bike

2. Do a cannonball off the dock, while yelling cannonball, it's a great way to start your day
2a remember to start your watch at the swim start
3. Dont' start your nutrition plan by drinking the swim water
4. when your hurling any food and water on the bike, don't catch it in your mouth and re swallow it hoping for some nutritional value, Just spew baby, let it go.
5. Just keeping repeating that you are ok while the volunteers in T2 ask if you can keep going, it might take a while but you will convince yourself
6. just keep moving forward
7. Don't ask out the cute girl at the mile 5 run aid station, she just keeps saying no and you lose time

OMG!  I have tears rolling down my face.  Did you really cannonball into the water while yelling cannonball?  If so, I want to hear from the athletes and volunteers who saw/heard that and see what they were thinking.   And personally I would have said yes to a guy who had the balls to ask me out while doing an Ironman.

Oh yea, it was a beauty of a cannonball too.

I don't know why this is hitting me as so funny but d*mn, I can just imagine the person in line after you thinking what the f is that guy on and where can I get some?  Dude, you rock!

It was the second or third page of the watching thread. Aaron took the picture.

I learned something else.  Don't leave your gear in your transition bags until Wednesday morning after the race.  Not a pleasant experience.

Or a match and a fireplace!  My swimsuit had a funky smell, but nothing the chlorine did not take care of yesterday!

Slow down and enjoy the finish.

Peeing 7X while on the bike means you did a great job hydrating and it paid off on the run.

powdered socks and 1 tube of chamois butter for each foot = no blisters even with damp socks from sponges. Had spare socks incase but ended up pitching them.

13:54:06 goes by in a blink. Enjoy every minute.

Remember what got you through it:

Great volunteers

special needs note from the wife

Seeing a young man with a severe case of cerebral palsy watching the marathon on the side of the road. A prisoner in his own body watching what a healthy human body is capable of. As the lump hits your throat and tears well up in your eyes, FOR HIM . . . you CAN NOT and you WILL NOT QUIT.
