  • 10 kms
  • 05m 18s  min/km
Comments:

I had a great first 6kms - my time was 31mins over 6kms which is good for me and I was happy - I had trouble maintaining it and AGAIN really struggled at the 7km mark. My body felt generally fine - I think I just need to train a lot more in order to improve. I was running and thinking about the run part of a Half IM and know that I am SOOOOO far from doing that at the moment...
What would you do differently?:

More training!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked and stretched and then sat down and drank some juice and water and ate some rice crackers and a banana - came home and made pancakes!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Level of fitness at this stage

Event comments:

A NEW PB! 52.58min - Previous PB 53.44min
I beat my previous PB of 53.44 but I am not overjoyed and I am not sure why - I think I could have run a little bit harder - I think I am getting to a point where I expect more from myself - It is really dumb because 12 months ago I never even would have CONTEMPLATED running in a 10km race. Not ever! Anyway - have to be kinder to myself. I did a great job and I know there were a lot of people still in bed nursing hangovers and not even thinking and walking 1 km letting alone running 10! I ran today and I did not stop :)

Ka pai to mahi! [Maori for "you're doing great"]. Love the pics - you look so relaxed and happy - and that is the way it should be. Keep up with your efforts - it is so worth it - and remember how far you have come. You're awesome. Cheers. Susan.

PS I'm looking at a 9.1km ocean swim for my big one next summer - yikes!! - but it is all in the training - I need to lift my speed consistently by 10% to make cut off times - have a year to do it in.

Love reading your race reports!!!  Amazing how someone can inspire me from halfway across the world..... you almost have me inspired to do an Oly distance.... almost   Great pics!  How come you look better after a race than before?  Must be an Aussie thing.   Or maybe just a chick thing

But what I am REALLY looking forward to is your swim report

Great job M!!  You're right, you shouldn't be dissapointed with a PB...ever!!

I know what you mean about expecting more of yourself though.  That's not a bad thing...it's just something that will drive you to keep posting those PB's.

I think you'll be surprised how easily it is to increase your distance to 21km's.  Going from 0 to 10 is huge step!!  But 10 to 20 is much easier.  Just take it slowly, I should listen to this advice, and you'll be running 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20km's before you know it.

You can do a Half IM...I KNOW YOU CAN!!
