The swim.  Because it is the only thing I cant do from my house.  I can run and bike from home, but I have to go somewhere else to swim, so it takes extra effort just to get there.  Plus on cold days, getting in the water above the waist can take some time.  Also, its the only event that I dont have an ipod for, so it seems and feels like a longer (ie boring) workout.

The run would be next b/c Ive never been a distance runner.

You almost took the words out of my mouth. I actually like running the least but just because as you said you have to travel to swim it makes it something of a chore. If my house was on a lake I'd be totally happy! I would bike allday if I had the time I love it (and I'm not that good at it either).

My vote is the swim. I swam from when I was a little kid till I was 18; hung up my goggles and swore I'd never do another lap because I'd done enough for a couple lifetimes. I lasted 22 years without doing a lap (not that I didn't go in the water - I got in my fair share of other water activity and can still do a great canopener off the diving board.)

When I decided I was doing my first tri, I went with my 9 yo daughter to her swim practice and jumped in the open lap lane. When we were on our way home, I said "When did they make the pool longer? When I was a kid it was 25 meters - this pool felt like 100."

It took a while to build back up in yardage and I don't mind swimming now, but I still have a hard time in the off-season with going to the pool vs. going for a long killer bike ride or run.

I thought it was the bike until I started finding nice locations (rural roads) with tons of "challenges" (dogs, hills, roadkill, etc) close to my house...now, it's definitely the swim

running is fun for me

Enjoy aspects of them all.  But since you are asking for a definitive one ...... riding in the cold and wet.  I can ride in the wet, I dislike riding in the cold, but I absolutely deplore riding in both together.

I second that one-getting up early to hit a cold pool.  Unfortunately they keep our pool very cold as well and that first step is a doozey.  Surprised

The run!

I love the swim, and enjoy the bike, but at a big 6'7" I am not built for efficent running. I am gettent better at it, but the only running records that will ever fall for me will be personal ones.

For me it's swimming.  Crowded pool, endless black line.  10 minutes feels like an hour.  Much worse than the treadmill.

I hate bricks!   I love to ride and I'm getting better at the run, but I lack the patience to put them together.  I think it is hard from going "fast" on the bike and then so slow on the run.   Maybe I need to run faster..........

That's tough.  It used to be long bikes, but I have come to look forward to them.

If I'm hard pressed:  I don't like intense interval sessions (run).  The first few feel great to stretch the legs and really run.  But the last few, I'm cursing the plan, the author of the plan, myself for following the plan, and the any inocent bystander who is watching me suffer.....

But then I'm happy I did it...

Ok I like all the sports.

But the thing I don't enjoy too much sometimes are the afternoon easy rides. Due to traffic around here I'm usually stuck with loops. When I'm going hard I actually like loops, but when I'm just spinning I hate them.

thr run!. I want to enjoy it but i just suck at it so bad.

If I get better I think I'll enjoy it more.

I grew up swimming so that's no problem. and fyi - they make a waterproof case for the ipod series.

Bike if I have to do it on the streets on my neighborhood. There is nowhere to really ride and it is so boring!

If I bike on a bike trail or in a race though, it quickly becomes my favorite leg (tied with swimming).

I normally love to run, but I don't like to do it when it really starts hurting (i.e. my knees and feet). Then, it becomes a chore.

Well my least favorite...you didn't mention...planned days off...Always feel guilty on those days.

Oh my gosh! I forgot about those. Those are definitely the worst! I love to train so much, and hate taking days off!

Running. Hands down, I hate it the most.  I went running on Saturday in the rain for the first time (in the past, I would either reschedule or use the treadmill).  When I got home, mrs gearboy asked me how I liked it.  I told her "I didn't hate it more than running in nice weather".

I started running years ago to manage weight, and got into triathlon because I hated to run, and it broke things up for me.

Did I mention how I hate to run?

For me its the running, never did much of  it for any distance. I am trying to do better. I have

lost some weight which should help and running more times per week. Still need to work on distance.

I think when I first started out it was the swimming and it's still frustrating that I'm not getting much faster compared to the progress that I've made with the bike and the run. However I'd have to agree with a few of you that off days are the worst, I feel like I should be training or doing something athletic.

I've hated each of them at some point or another...usually when I've slacked off and try to restart and all I can think is "What if I hadn't stopped? Then this would be EASY."

I like them all, but the strides and intervals on the run part wreck me.

Run - It hurts my knees
