My wife has generously agreed for a vacation to include volunteering at IM Florida this year. I know it is late notice. Anybody have recommendation possibilities for hotel or condo rentals? Any suggestions for other things to do around there? Looking forward to some swim/bike/run as well. Thanks.

Panama city beach has numerous hotels. I stayed at the Holiday Inn, it's great especially if you are bringing the family, it is right on the beach with a large pool, water park, bar, lounge, jet
ski's, parasailing.
THere is alot to do on the strip, you won't be bored.
Good luck.

I've stayed at the Sunbird- which is within a VERY short walk to the TA and reasonably priced- I highly recommend it.  The condos there are only 1 bedroom (I believe) with a pull out sofa.  If you just need something small I highly recommend the Sunbird- it's really convenient.

I've also stayd at Gulf Crest- which is nice and newer, and definitely has more space than the Sunbird.  But it's a little farther of a walk to the TA, but still walkable.  It is on the run course, which is cool.

I don't think you'll have a problem finding a place, since PCB has a ton of condos that are really close to IM Villa.

Definitely check out vrbo.com though- you should have luck finding a place on there for a good price!

PM Socks for the place she is staying. It is super close to transition but you can still get in and out driving as needed. It was opened just last year and is beautiful. I'm staying same place with a group of BTers.

You could just show up in Panama City and find a place to stay IM weekend. It is a huge vacation location and it is the off season so lots of empty places. It is a big plus of IMFL great housing and relatively inexpensive.

In 2007, I got a condo at Inn at St Thomas Square, about a half mile away. It is close enough to be a convenient walk but far enough away to stay out of the fray. Good prices too, and nice people.

I'm staying at the Long Beach Resort. It's right next door to the Boardwalk so a short walk before and a short hobble after. They have studios, 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms. I opted for the 1 bedroom as it includes a full kitchen and I'm going to be there Tuesday - Monday. $127/night. Good luck!

Been to PCB a number of times including IMFL2005.......if you are going to do the vacation thing in conjunction, I would try to go through vrbo.com and look a the Gulf Crest condos......LOTS of room and  right on the beach...private parking....two pools and hot tubs...about .5 mile to transition.....and well equipped and comfy condo......plenty of room!  If the weather turns sour you won't be aching to get out of your room.....

We stayed at Inn at St. Thomas Square for the Gulf Coast Tri, and will stay there again for IMFL.  Ditto a previous reply:  Close enough to walk, but out of the traffic.  Not on the beach, and more of an apartment complex feel than the highrise condo on the beach scene.  Very, very inexpensive.

I was a bit nervous about what it would be like, because it was so cheap, but we were really very pleasantly surprised when we stayed there in May.  If price is important, this is a great place.
