Comments:

Ran with the kids. Ben (9) ran really well, he was about 1/4 mile ahead of us. This was his second 5K. He took third in 13 and younger males age group. Beka (5) struggled after about mile 2, but turned it up when she saw the home stretch!! I carried her and ran about 100 yards, then I thought I was going to die!! She finished 3rd in 13 and younger females AG. It was a good race, small, little unorganized at first, but fun. A GREAT race for the kids!!
What would you do differently?:

Absolutely nothing. It was great to see my kids out there achieving their goals!! Ben is thrilled to finish another race and not puke. It was slower than his last 5K by 6 minutes, but he took an extra 1/2 mile detour because he got lost on the course.

Beka's not too sure yet. She's pretty tired, but she loved the chocolate chip cookies at the end!! I bribed her the last mile that all the good cookies would be gone if she didn't hurry up!! I know, I'm a mean mommy!! But it worked!!

Warm down:

Walked around and waited for the awards. They had LOTS of food!!

What a great-looking family! I can't believe Beka is doing a 5K at 5 years old! I don't even think I had P.E at 5 yrs old! It was a bit chilly today...but sounds like you all had a fun time. Awesome job Beka and Ben!!! Do you have 2 future triathletes in the making??

well done!!

That is so cool to run with your kids. My boy can't wait until he's older to go running with his dad, I can't wait either.
