Baowolf - 2008-10-21 8:30 AM Ya the dragon died too... it just hurt more. The biggest challenge for Beowulf was actually the temptress and he failed that one big time. Fortunately I am married to the most beautiful, patient and loving woman so not a problem for me 8) coming up on 20th anniversary next spring.

BaoWolf   killed the dragon but died in the process so it did indeed hurt more .

Best of Luck with the Trail Run . i wish i was in shape to do one .  Maybe after a few months of

challenges i will be ready.

Go Monsters !

Met my goal today. Good thing, since after I have sinus surgery tomorrow I won't be able to work out for 2 weeks. I will be able to go for walks, so I can still add to my totals and my dog will be happy.

You need the new version of godzilla, the one that runs and swims fast if he is going to be a triathlete... how you are going to have him ride a bike.... I have no idea.

I wanna pat myself on the back here, i hope ya'll don't mind.  I started running in the beginning of August, i weighed 258lbs, i was unable to run 200 yards and i was lucky to get in a 14 minute mile, with quite a bit of pain i might add. I then strained/tore my left calf and was out of commission for 2 weeks in early September, right around the time of my first Tri. I walked all 2.2 miles of that race(micro sprint) and finished the run portion in somwhere around 27 minutes, if you read my race report you will understand that fiasco. I resumed running about a week after that race and have been running 3-4 times a week, since the middle of September. Well..... this morning i ran a negative split run (my running partner was having a bad day) and my last mile of my morning 5k was a 7:15 mile!!!!!!! for a total time of 31 mins and change. My goal is sub 30's for now, but a 7:15 gives me the confidence that i will break that shortly. My weight is 238-240 and it has plateaued for a little while now, but my waist is down from a tight 38 comfy 40 to a comfy 36!!! I wanna pat myself on the back for making significant improvements in the last 2 months and i would like to thank all my challenge partners on this team and my Horny Melons team for all the inspiration they have given me in the last two months!!!

Thank you all!!!!

Rudy

Rudy,

Nice job, breaking 30 for a 5k should be very doable for you.  Great running and keep up the good work.

Raced my Half Mary today and got the 13.1 in.  I'm now at 78/90 for the month and even though I hoped to get some bonus miles...it doesn't look like that will happen but I will hit the mark for my goal.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend...lets get those miles in.

Yay 30k race today (18.667 ish miles). Race report up. Longest run ever was last week at like 15 miles. This run was significantly harder.... with 8800 + total assent and decent, very steep hills, dirt, rocks, dry leaves, 8 stream crossings. Roughly 10 major climbs. Verry challenging course with the steepness and poor footing etc. I finished in 2:55 or a 9:28 min mile pace and had 1:30, 1:25 split for the run.

I took what I learned from my HIM and hit the GU 30 min from the finish and did not run out of gas. The guy who was ahead of me (in my age group) for 16 miles.... ran out of a gas 2 miles ish from the end, probly due to nutrition.

I almost placed, was 4/7 in my age group and missed 3rd by less than 2 minutes. I was 12/38 overall. In my age group 1st place in age group was 1st place for entire race and 2nd in age group was 3rd for entire race. Sucks to be 40 something. Oh well, I finished fater than I had anticipated, so much so that my family was um not there when I finished.

I had 3 sons do the 1.35 mile race and my oldest son got 2nd place overall and his team got first place winning $900 towards their track/cross country team equipment (donated by the race group from entry fees (kids ran for free).

And.... that puts me at 94/90 miles run reaching my goal in style. I was really hoping I could finish it and nailed the last 2.5 miles pretty strong.

Who else is at/ close to their goal?

Congrats on the races guys!

Got another 8 mile run in today which puts me over my goal for the month.  Was a great training run, and felt good the entire way.   Looking forward to my first double digit run next month.  Was really thinking of going an extra 2 miles today, but want to stick with my distance ramp up plan.

So.. about those folks who have never logged a single mile this month... we gona consult management to drop them from the group for the month end totals or just suck it up and meet our own individual goals?
