Turtle Crawl moves 2 weekends later in May to May 16th. Now competes directly with Peachtree City International, unless they (PTCI) decide to move their date. Stay tuned.

Date of the rest of the events is one day earlier in most cases.

Thanks Ron.  As a lot of you know, I have been shamelessly plugging the Turtle Crawl since I did it last year.  I am trying to get NAMSC to make it a club race next year.  It is a great race if you want a PR.  As slow as I am, I did it in 2:48.17.  My next fastest oly has been 3:06.xx.

You swim with the current and there is a lot of it.  My swim time for 1500 meters was 19 minutes including the run from the beach to T1.  I have never done faster than 28 besides that one.  The bike course and the run are completely flat.  Other than that, it is a great weekend getaway on the beach that is fairly close to Atlanta and relatively inexpensive.  It is similar to St. Anthony's, close to the same weekend, same type of atmosphere, much faster course, a lot closer to Atlanta, cool festival, turtle release, and live music.  Oh, and a very cool T-shirt.  I will get off the soap box now.  I hope we have a good crowd there next year.

I was talking to Jonathan22 about the Turtle Crawl just yesterday and a friend and I are going to do that as our 1st Oly.  He said that you were very complimentary of the race.  Thanks for the inside info..... sounds like a fun weekend.

Plugging??? I read your race report, Neal.  There are frequent mentions of sharks.  You plug me right out of it!

Neal,

You've got me sold on Turtle Crawl.  I've set my target as that being my first Oly.  Emerald Pointe was my first Tri this year, and now it's going to be a long hard winter getting ready for Jeckyll Island.  There weren't too many people in that race the last couple years, but I think Georgia Multisports should give you a commission for all the people you've encouraged to do the race so far.  Looking forward to swimming with all those fish (not sharks)!

I'm in for Macon as my spring HIM.

I'd like to do West Point but I'm not sure with it being 2 weeks after Macon.  I was pretty beat down 2 weeks after Gulf Coast this past year.  However, I felt awesome 2 weeks after Steelhead so I'm not sure.

I've done the Turtle Crawl too and it is definitely a great race. They have moved weekends on that race, it used to be the first weekend in May and now it's the 3rd.

I am hoping to do the Turtle Crawl as well, but may not since it is on a work weekend for me and requires me to burn vacation.  Also, it is 3 weeks after St. Anthonys which is an A race for me..

I mights also try West Point and Georgia veterans depending on when the tri the parks races are.  I really like that series.

I'm so in for Turtle Crawl. All the good reviews here didn't hurt! What do you guys think about Rock N Rollman? I've heard tough course and hot. What would you compare it to? Hillier than Cartersville/Silk Sheets? More like Stone Mountain? Buckhead? Roswell?

Neal,  Congratulations!  Now that the Turtle Crawl is a few weeks after St Anthony's I might actually do it... If hearing your Turtle Crawl stump speech all summer over and over and over again did not convince me, seeing the date has moved well past St A's did.  GA Multisports does a great job organizing races and I'm looking forward to it.

I hope moving the date of the race for '09 puts us past the jellyfish season you encountered in '08.  Also hoping your BT profile photo does not depict actual Turtle Crawl race conditions.  If so I see why you had some extra motivation out on the swim course and turned in an awesome time.

Justin
