We're a day over 2 weeks since completing the IM.  How's the recovery going?  Have you done much of anything since the race?  When does your next training cycle start and for what race?

Personally - I ran an annual half marathon race this past Saturday 10 minutes from my house (a really brilliant idea).  Probably not the smartest thing I could have done as my body is still screaming at me today.  Until my 6 I was dead on for a sub 2, but after that my mind said yes, but my legs reminded me that I just did an IM less than 2 weeks ago.  Still a 10 second PR so not a bad run!

Now it's in the recliner until after X-mas!!!!! What about everyone else.

Hey there,

I had all sorts of exciting plans to jump right back on schedule and crush the Disney Marathon on Jan 11th, but the obvious physical ability jumped in and I have been disappointed and not running much at all.  Was really tired for the first week, and some of the 2nd.  I ran an hour on the treadmill about 1 week after the race, and felt like I had done a marathon when I was done.   Did ok with a 4 miler late last week, but I got sick and things have fallen apart.  Planning on doing 8-10 tonight and getting myself back into my plans of focusing hard on Disney, as much as you can with less than 5 weeks left. :-)

Cold weather is not helping at all.  It's hard to get excited about running in 20-some degree temps.  How can an Ironman be such a whiner??!! :-)

Did a REALLY slow 5k the Sunday after Thanksgiving, but that was about it.

Got about 2 hours of work out last week, and am going to try to double that this week. My body is still telling me it needs some recovery.

I did nothing for two weeks.  My kids were wondering why dad is still around the house in the morning.  I started in on the 20 week winter maintenance program today and will see how it goes.  Ran an easy 5k on the treadmill today.  Legs felt okay.  It was good to get back in the pool and swim again as well.  My off season program will focus on bike (my weakest event) as welll as core strengthening and some much needed flexibility.

Starting to have dreams about IM CDA in 2010.  Anyone else interested?

I really haven't done anything.  I jacked up my achilles area pretty good racing so I'm trying to let it heal.  It still freels pretty tight.

I should hit up the elliptical a bit this week and see how it goes.

I spend the last two weeks hiking in Moab, UT and skiing in Jackson Hole, WY.  Went for my first run today...feel good.

I didn't do anything for several days, but then I started doing some easy, slow efforts. I don't want to do anything intense yet, but I also don't wanna lose the fitness that's been gained this year. Ran an easy 10 miles yesterday. My next race is the Oceanside 70.3, so I've got plenty of time to get ready.

Hi everyone. I too have been sitting on my butt for the majority of the last two weeks. I have gone on some walks and did a bit of mountain biking. I have started working on my plan for the next three months of training. I have 17 days off around Christmass and I am planning to do 100 miles of hiking and 100 miles of mountain biking in that time. My first race of 2009 is a trail run in about 5 weeks.

Oddly, I didn't feel bad at all after I got back to Dallas.  I felt well enough to do the Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot (8 miler) with my fiance.  Finished 3 minutes behind last years time (1:20).  I ran a few more times with no goal time or distance (between 1 and 3 miles) and now I'm about to do the White Rock 1/2 marathon.  After that...put a few pounds on so that I have something to shoot for come January.  lol.

First week I did nothing but get in the pool during masters and flop around for 500 yards or so.  I went on an ez bike ride with the group, but it was tough.  I had no power, although I could sit in teh draft forever.  Took a loooong nap when I got home.

Second week I brought my swimming back to normal, 2 x 3K masters, felt a little sluggish but OK.  First run of 3 miles was tough.

Last weekend (2 weeks out), did a 60 miler on the bike and 4 mile trail run Sunday.  Still a bit tired, but don't seem to have that deep cellular fatigue I was feeling.  Ran again last night, trying to keep everything short, no HR, no expectations, just moving.

First week after getting home, just did some massage, chiropractor work, and swimming over the weekend. Nothing else.

Second week, added some more swimming, and back to normal by Friday for swimming, and some biking.

Third week, all good, except for my little toe which I think one of the blisters got infected. Going to see doctor. After running this weekend, I can't walk on my left foot, and wearing flipflops as that part of the foot is red/purple and inflamed.

Everything else is doing great, and enjoying my mental/physical break. Put on a few lbs, but not enough to stress me. Just enjoying life.

Actually I have been feeling great. Keeping the volume nice and low but have surprised myself how much pop is in my legs lately. I also signed up for Ironman UK today, best way to ditch the Ironman blues is to get a new target to shoot for.

With all things said, I was on the great road, until one of my blisters turned south!

Just see pictures I've posted on my profile. Guess an infection can set you back for many weeks.

Will see! Can't do anything right now, except stretch and abs! Just remembered that second one!
