Here's a re-post since it fell off the first page:

My wife and I are planning to eat at Mandina's http://www.mandinasrestaurant.com/  on Saturday at 5 pm.  My wife grew up in New Orleans.  Mandina's is a classic neighborhood New Orleans resteraunt.  Great food.  Plenty of pasta f pre-race meal.  They don't take reservations but will hold a table if we let them know ahead of time (I know, sounds like a reservation).  They also don't accept credit cards or checks...cash only.

If anyone wants to join us let me know by Saturday so we can ask them to hold a table for us on the 'porch'.

I may be up for dinner.  I'll confirm later next week.

Scott

Count Hubby & me in. Thanks!Cathy

LazyMarathoner - 2009-03-26 1:13 PM I'm around pretty early Friday and planning to swim at the venue if possible. Anyone else thinking of getting in the water that early? I haven't been in a wetsuit or OW since August so I'm a little concerned and need to acclimate!

That might not be a bad idea. What are you callin' early?

Not too early. My flight lands around 11 I think. So right after lunch maybe? Does anyone have details on how to get there from the host hotels? If we need to cab it maybe we can get a small group together. I'll likely swim Saturday as well.

I'm in for the swim. You name the time. I'm driving in from 50 miles away, so I'm flexible. Where are you staying?

I'm at the Courtyard Marriot. Let me double check my flight and also see what the expo hours are and we can set a time.

Sounds good. I want to go to the expo too. What about those mandatory briefings? I need to check & see if they're having any on Fri. so maybe I can get that knocked out as well.

The website states that they have the briefings on Friday and Saturday. I will be attending a briefing on Friday. I will also attempt to make a swim on Friday and Saturday. Although the weather report is not looking good for those days.

My plan changed so I'm staying at Le Pavillon Hotel, less than 1 mile from Marriott.  We could still carpool together.  Darn, that reminds me...I need to get the rental car!

Finally got those scattered thunderstorms off the forecast. Good to see.

Got in a small brick on Sunday and a good open water swim.  Cleaned up the bike, got new bar pads and tape.  I'm just ready to be down there.

I'd take a couple of degrees cooler, less wind and humidity, but the forecast looks better than it did over the weekend.
