So how are everyone's tapers going? I think I'm more tired doing less than I was on my biggest volume weeks. What's up with that?

Bike going to the LBS today for tuneup.

microspawn - 2009-03-23 10:20 PM latest water temp - 67.6 http://www.saveourlake.org/water_quality.aspI did the triamerica on the north shore last may - the water was dense and full of sea weed. When you got out of the water you had sashes like Mrs America.

Oh god. I HATE seaweed. Or any sort of weeds in water for that matter. I guess I'm going to need to get in that water as soon as I get to town so I can get over it.

AbbieR - 2009-03-25 2:12 AM Any plans on tap for a BT gathering???

Let's make a plan! Should we try for Friday night so we can actually have a drink? I'm going to have to pretend I'm not in New Orleans on Saturday.

Taper is tough! I'm only on Day 3 and I'm bored and eating way too much. Plus I'm tempted to kick up the intensity and I know I shouldn't. Two weeks is going to creep by at this pace.

Friday would be great or even a lunch.  A drink....I am such a lightweight....I had 1.5 beers 2 weeks ago and was very tipsy!  My old college self would be so ashamed of what I have become

I'm driving into NO on Friday afternoon, so I'd be up for something on Friday night or after we drop off bikes on Saturday.

I'm thinking about driving in on Friday for an early race briefing. Will anybody be around for lunch on Fri.? BTW, what's the briefing all about, anyway? I'll probably drive back home Fri. afternoon & come back Sat. with my husband. I live only 50 miles from N.O. .

My wife and I are planning to eat at Mandina's http://www.mandinasrestaurant.com/  on Saturday at 5 pm.  My wife grew up in New Orleans.  Mandina's is a classic neighborhood New Orleans resteraunt.  Great good.  Plenty of pasta for pre-race meal.  They don't take reservations but will hold a table if we let them know ahead of time (I know, sounds like a reservation).  They also don't accept credit cards or checks...cash only.

If anyone wants to join us let me know by Saturday so we can ask them to hold a table for us on the 'porch'.

I'm around pretty early Friday and planning to swim at the venue if possible. Anyone else thinking of getting in the water that early? I haven't been in a wetsuit or OW since August so I'm a little concerned and need to acclimate!

Lows in the upper 40s, highs in the low 70s, mostly sunny, is damned near perfect weather, best you're going to get out of that time of year. Hope that forecast holds for you guys.

Not too early. My flight lands around 11 I think. So right after lunch maybe? Does anyone have details on how to get there from the host hotels? If we need to cab it maybe we can get a small group together. I'll likely swim Saturday as well.

Should we go ahead and make a firm plan for some get togethers? Friday night would be really nice so we can actually drink (a little). You can see where my priorities are

My clan is joining Tommy (zia cyclist) at Mandina's Saturday for an early dinner. Let him know if y'all want to join.

His post is on the previous page.

Question on the swim waves. I am in the M35-39 AG so we have 3 waves. Anyway to know more specifically which one before getting my packet on Saturday?

Is it really only a week away? Seemed like time was hurtling toward this a few weeks ago; now feels like this week is going to be an eternity...
