Subject: Anyone else having problems downloading from your Garmin?

I got a Garmin 405 for Christmas (yay!), and it was working great.  For the past three days, the transfer works, but then when it is writing to the whatever, it fails.  I called Garmin and they said it was a problem with the Garmin Connect website.  I'm thinking if that is the case, then everyone is having problems?

Anyone???? Thanks.

Yeah, my 205 stopped successfully uploading to the Garmin Training Center software and to BT. It will, however, still upload to MotionBased.com. I've gotten responses from Garmin that haven't helped.

I've got no problem downloading from my 305 to BT, Garmin Training Center, or to SportTracks.  However, I have a buddy that is having trouble and couldn't figure it out.

Try re-setting your unit after your workout, prior to upload. Worked for me and my 301 after experiencing similar problems

The other day I had no problem uploading to Garmin Training Center, but then when I went to upload into my training log here on BT it kept stopping at 42%, so I did it manually. The next day when I went running it worked fine.

I have random trouble downloading to BT with my 305, found that it only happens using a certain internet connection, if I use a different way to connect to the internet it always works right.

Never had any trouble downloading to Sport Tracks or the Garmin Training Center.

I use a MacBook and if it in not plugged in, it will not download the data into my training log.  I still cannot get the Garmin to upload the route to the route tracker.  I use a 301

I've never been able to get my 305 to upload into BT. I can get it into cycling peaks or the Garmin software.

I had a problem uploading to both BT and the garmin communicator software a couple days back. It would freeze up on BT at 84%. I thought I had a corrupt session or something, so I just deleted all my training history. All sessions since then have uploaded both places just fine.

I'm having trouble uploading into BT from my Garmin and in fact just posted a thread in the gear forum to see if I can get any advice.  Mine says "0 Running workouts for 1/1/2009 found." but I did go running this morning.  Weird, eh?

I am having a problem this morning.  I did a bike workout earlier and just tried to download it.  Garmin finds the workout, completes the transfer, says that it's found the bike workout for today, but when I hit the final download button, it says BT cannot yet transfer multisport workouts just yet.   I know I only have a bike workout today, and I didn't switch to a run before the workout ended.......hmmm.

I've had this happen before also, usually because I had hit the Start button before switching the workout type. Like the bear said, it's always best to push 'reset' before starting a workout.

chowbisou, I got your report. There is apparently a problem similar to what you describe with workouts recorded on the other side of the international date line from  the U.S. but I haven't seen it in with workouts reocorded in this hemisphere. I've confirmed that your time zone is set correctly in the BT control panel. Can you confirm that it's set correctly on your Garmin unit?

Also, I've found that many, if not most, problems with downloading workouts from Garmin units to any software can be cleared up by regularly deleting old workouts from the unit. They have limited memory and they aren't meant to hold your training history forever. Once you use up the allotted memory it will start to degrade information from previous workouts.

I regularly keep no more than 30 days worth of workouts on my 305.

Hi from the "other side of the International Date Line"

I know you have been alerted to my problem already but do you forsee the Date line issue being resolved?

I can manually upload my data no probs but it is fun playing with my new toy.

My Garmin 405 (also for Cristmas, also YEA!) works fine for uploading workout data but when I try to upload the route it finds the device but hangs at "0%". Anybody else have this problem or a solution? I have tried shutting down and restarting..... Thanks!

Mine seems to be working fine now.  It still says transfer failed on the little Garmin page that you can look out while it is transferring, but it uploads to BT without a problem.  I think it just might be a little glitch in the software.  I haven't tried uploading routes, although, for some reason I thought the 405 couldn't do that??
