Besides i thought i was doing you a favor, carrying that lightweight sailing around should have toughened up the core. and come on dont lie to me you enjoyed the time alone to pick on sailing, admit it!Holy Crap how have I missed this. "The long awaited return of Comet" Welcome back and its about time. My back is sore from carrying the weight of having to be the one to pick on Sailing all by myself It was more than a month. I've been crying the whole time. |

Now the main part took me 30mins but i enjoyed it. Back to work now..... Edited by Cead_Mille_Failte 2009-01-27 9:27 AM |

Yeah the joys of being a PhD student and obviously having this amazing pool 5mins walk form your desk. I tried that getting up early technique and it worked twice maybe - I've been beating myself over this but it just seems I'm not the "morning training!"kind of person. I noticed that my morning workouts (7 or 8am) were taking a lot more effort than the same one done later during the day. Fair enough, after my morning workout (those few times I did them) I felt good for the whole day but as I said running yesterday's distnace (3.95km) in the morning would simply kill me. I think I discovered my perfect trianing times: after 11am till about 8pm/9pm and must be 2hrs after any food. Ok finished work- getting out of here! |

Champion 5807 Henderson NV | Subject: RE: Team Skinny (Jan 09) Goals will be Goals A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired , or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today, who no longer understand that fact. |

Champion 9430 No excuses! | Subject: RE: Team Skinny (Jan 09) Goals will be Goals I am geeked for weigh in tomorrow. I have been eating much better this week and have fingers and toes crossed that the scale hasn't been lying lately. Might act like a high school wrestler in the morning before I jump on the scale and try to use the bathroom ten times "to make weight" |

For two reasons, 1) it'll get done 2) you tend to get in the frame of mind that that time is devoted, therefor your mindset is on the training [always good]. Keep up the great workouts, and the non-smoking attitude. |

Veteran 1773 Dayton, OH | Subject: RE: Team Skinny (Jan 09) Goals will be Goals News on the CHECK... It was logged in today, but still needs time to be processed by the lawyers (where they take their cut). So, I think I'm still on a good timeline to get the vehicle sometime on Thurs. To anybody that's interested, this is the car I'm getting: http://www.vossauto.com/Preowned-Inventory.aspx?InventoryId=2682108... It's soooooo pretty! I still have some other shopping to do: Jumper Cables, Snow/Ice Scraper, CD-holder, and maybe some of those freshscent pine tree thingy's. But I can't wait to drive it off the lot (yes I know, as soon as that happens, value tanks. But to me it'll be well worth it not to have to wait in the blistering cold and snow for the bus!) Oh and by the by, that's not what I'm paying... My uncle is a GM for a couple of Voss dealerships, so I got a pretty good deal. Edited by i146q 2009-01-28 12:38 AM |

Veteran 1773 Dayton, OH | Subject: RE: Team Skinny (Jan 09) Goals will be Goals Forgot to mention, found different option to the gym thing. I was intending to join one that was going to set me back about $505, but I'm probably going to opt for a family package at my dad's university (Univ. of Dayton, Oh) for $250. That way I can drag my mom along, she's been wining about having to walk in the snow with my dad, also I can drag him along too (post Lap-band surgery), get him back on track to burning some calories. Besides this is the gym I was going to when I first started at Team Skinny, so I'm definately familiar with the equipment, times, and my performance on the equip. Way back when I was up to 3-4 days/wk, doing 12 mi bike, 4.25 mi run (bricks), then doing some minor weight lifting. What I'm hoping to do is get up to this level, then bring my P90X worksheets with me, so I can break down the different days of the wk to maximize caloric burn. What do you guys think? |

Veteran 455 Limerick, Ireland | Subject: RE: Team Skinny (Jan 09) Goals will be Goals Josh - nice ride!!!! Sooooooooo jealous now but keep it quiet from my Bumblebee as he might get upset. Great idea with the gym - I'm always stressed out when I'm joining a new gym or something alnog those lines - like I mean my heart is pounding which is kinda ridiculous. I only get used to people and equipment after going 3/4 times per week for about a month. LSU25 - my general area is Applied Languages. I did my MA in English Language Teaching (as in English as a Foreign Lg) and was analysing teacher talk in classroom (recordings, transcriptions and discourse analysis). I found this fascinating so I'm writing my PhD in a similar area - I'm analysing teacher talk in secondary level classrooms where immigrant children are present and then comparing it with classes with only Irish pupils - the title makes is soudnd really important: "Language accommodation and the integration of English language learners in the Irish secondary school context". Now, I'm only after starting so it's gonna be another 3,5 years (if everything goes according to the plan) before you can start bragging that you know THE Dr Jo What's your husband's area? Wednesday is upon us- well upon me anyway - so here it is: 76.5 I know it's up (possibly after Edinburgh but also a few other things) but I'm trying not to get too stressed out about this - at least I've started training again and still not smoking. But yesterday I noticed something strange - my jeans from being ok in the morning went to being very tight in the afternoon - I only hope I'm not putting on weight at that pace. Hope ye all have a good Wednesday! |

Expert 859 Perth, Australia | Subject: RE: Team Skinny (Jan 09) Goals will be Goals Hey Josh, was a classy looking car, very nice. Good that you can go to a gym you're familiar with, I'm still getting used to the quirks of my new one. It was cloudy today so I could swim in the outside pool, very nice Jo my ex works in Speech and Language Sciences at Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh. Your PhD sounds fascinating, good luck with it all. Having supported my hubby through his, I know how incredibly stressful it can all be. Well not so crash-hot on the weight-loss this week but it was a decrease - 3.5oz, woohoo so down to 129.6. What was great though was that we went shopping for clothes for the Munchkin and I can now get into kid's t-shirts again so I am now sporting 'Little Miss Giggles' but purely for wearing around the house!! I had another great strength session with my trainer - he is constantly correcting my form and works me with heavier weights than when I'm on my own. I reckon the 30 mins with him is worth about 2 hours of ineffectual lifing with iffy form. I used to have lunch every day at my old gym but cutting that out has given me the $ to pay him with :-)
