Pre-race routine:

Got up at 6a and ate the usual - slice of bread with peanut butter, banana, and e-fuel. Rode to the race with a friend who was also running the half. About 30 min before the start, I checked my gear bag, took a gel, and got in coral 4.

Comments:

I was really pleased with my time. Going into the race, I thought I would be somewhere between 1:45 and 1:40. At mile 8, I was thinking, "Hot damn - I'm going to break 1:40!".

What would you do differently?:

I brought my sunglasses in my gear bag, but forgot to get them out before I checked it. Nutrition was good - no changes there. I need to work on a faster 5k. It basically took me all race to work my average down because of the slow start. I also need to start in an earlier coral. I had to run around too many people between miles 1 - 8, then it finally spread out.
Post race
Warm down:

Typical walk around, then stretched in the NB tent.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slow start

Event comments:

The gel station was around mile 8 -- a little too late in my opinion. Glad I had one on me to use earlier.

I need to do the full mary next year...

Course: Flat until mile 9. Mile 11 had a couple of hills and was windy for most of the stretch. I hit a slight wall during 11 running an 8:02, the slowest of the race. Once I hit the top of the hill and got some fluids, I was able to get back on pace. Nutrition was good. Gel 30m prior to race and somewhere between mile 5 & 6. Took in liquid at every stop (even if only a sip).

You were incredibly fast! What corral were you in?

Corral 4 -- In hindsight, I was way too conservative with the time I put down when I registered.  It caused some problems because I had to weave around too much traffic up until mile 9 or so.   Lessons learned for next time....
