Comments:

This was the qualifying race for the "Race Off" tomorrow.

WOW, this was hard. I'm not sure if I ever raced harder. It was just DIFFERENT, I guess. The HR was already spiked after about 10 flights of steps. I had side stiches and my head was pounding, lungs and legs burning... I seriously think I probably hit my max HR. I think I might wear my HRM tomorrow to see what I peak at.

I was never passed, and passed about 5 people, even though we started 1 min apart...

I know I put everything I had into it. I even PUKED at the end! Booyah! I think they should have puke buckets available (even though it seemed I was the only one doing it!). I had to use a trash can... Ick!

I was doing some serious coughing after the race and still have a lung 'itch'/burn going on.

I was EASILY the biggest guy there (height wise and the weight that comes with that). Not too bad getting this big body up all those steps!
What would you do differently?:

Practice running stairs!!!
Post race
Warm down:

Drink lots of free Vitamine water.

Need to keep drinking to day and get some rest to do it again tomorrow!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

235 lbs of mass!

Event comments:

Fun little event for charity. I hope they do it again next year!

BTW, the top Elite guy was from Mexico City and posted a time of 8:02. That's just SICK!!!!

Aweseom job, Jim.  Running stairs is a whole different animal than running on flats - doing it in 12 minutes and change is VERY impressive!

You PUKED??  DUDE.   (teasing)

Congrats, big man!  That's a lotta climbing, and passing 5 people along the way is just icing!  Did you bodycheck them?
