Best/ Closest masters swimming in atlanta

X2 for Dynamo ... Maria Thrash is the best Masters swim coach in Atlanta - hands down.

x2 on masters at Westminister!  You get so much bang for your buck at around $300 a year and 6 different workouts a week!  I passed up Dynamo mainly b/c I didn't want to pay that much, I know they also have a solid program.

The Westminster group meets from 5:45am-7am Monday-Friday.  For the summer, M/W/F is at Westminster and T/Th is at Chastain Park.  Then in the fall it will go back to Westminster M-F.  There is also a swim on Saturday mornings - I think 7am and at Chastain.  Danny Palma is the current coach.  It's a great group of people and the price is very reasonable ($300 for the year but I think they prorate mid-year).  Contact person is Bill Lotz - blotz at mindspring dot com.

I'm swimming T/Th/Sat at Chastain with Danny coaching and I love it.  So much! I asked him about switching to the Westminster group in the fall once Chastain closes.  I guess I'm finally enough of a fish to be let into a Masters group

Don't be concerned about your swim speed.  I was very slow when I started and everyone was very nice and supportive.

jump in...there is only one way to learn!  If you go and feel uncomfortable then you are at the wrong place.  I know lots of swimmers at Dynamo in the tri lanes that do not do flips.  We only do free style workouts in the tri lanes.  So, Dynamo is two for two for your concerns.

Most people only do freestyle.  Some start off not knowing how to do flip turns but the coach will teach you how to do them.

Like the Captin says, just jump in and swim!

Some of the higher lanes do all strokes, but the lower lanes are mostly freestyle.  And you don't have to do flip turns, either.  It's a great group of people - give it a try!
