Subject: St. Paddy's Day 10Km Well originally my goal was to break 50min in this race and it was a very acheivable goal- until the trouble started with my wisdom tooth which led to a systemic infection that had me as sick as I can remember ever being. Yesterday I finished the antibiotics and felt better this am but have been essentially couch bound all week...
So I decided I was going to do the race anyway, even if I had to walk parts of it. It turned out that once I got going my body kicked in and I was able to run fairly strong the entire race. I finished in 50:20 witch is 10 secons slower than my last PR but not shabby considering how unhealthy I felt. I know with confidence I can easily break 50 in the next 10K.
After the race rewarded myself with a trip to the dentist. My evil wisdom tooth is gone and my cavities I have avoided for 4 years are mended. Fear of the dentist has been outweighed by fear of being ill. The week off was the most challenging week I've had since starting training- mentally and physically. I am aching to get back into it and feel well. The race today was a big confidence builder in my fitness level.
