Okeedokee ya'll, hit me with 'em.  Didn't see too many Northside routes in the cache here on BT.

AND since I'm posting, anyone up for an all afternoon ride this Saturday??

It's nice out there by myself, but I'd REALLY rather have some chit-chat, brains to pick, and training buddies to push my limits with.

We'd ride with you but we're dropping my car at Osborne's and riding to Chatfield to swim on Sat.

Rocky Mtn Cycling Club may have a ride that day and they do long rides -- no idea what kind of pace.  COgirl may be able to help you out since she was training for IMCdA last year and lives up that way.

I did a bunch or rides last year out of the Boulder Res up to Carter Lake, if I remember right I think it was around 1.5 - 1 3/4 hours each way, so maybe a loop up to Carter Lake and then a Long Course or Sprint course loop or something would be a good ride.  I have a three hour ride on tap for the weekend so it's possible I could be talked into part of the ride depending on where you end up going.

Look up the Buffalo Bike Classic or Venus de Miles routes.   I'd ride with you but my long run is scheduled that day.

Where are you located?

I would do an 80+ mile ride going from Cherry Creek Reservoir to Confluence Park and down to Chatfield Reservoir (in one entrance out the other then turn around) and then back to Confluence Park and Cherry Creek Reservoir. The ride is pretty much exclusively on bike paths. Hard to tell what 4.5 hours is not knowing how fast you ride.

I second Carter Lake. Lots of options out around Boulder. I'm going long this weekend (70 mi), but not sure which day. Sunday looks like the nicer option, but as I've learned the last FIVE weekends, the weather forecasters would be lucky to tell us what the weather was like...YESTERDAY, let alone several days from now.

There are lots of options north of Boulder.  I'm riding Saturday as well but I think I'm going to have to squeeze my ride in around lots of family responsibilities this week.  If you figure out a route, please post and if I'm riding in the afternoon, I'llfind you and keep youcompnay for a bit.  4.5 hours is too much for me right now.

Yep, Carter Lake is great!  You could start at the Rez, do a "little" dogleg up Left hand canyon, then back on 36 to St. Vrain, left on 75th, cross over rt. 66, follow that road, and then left on 83rd.  Left at the T, and left into Carter lake.  Then ride back.  And if you need more, as Drew said, you could ride a loop (Neva, Nelson, etc).  Good luck!  I want to go, but can't

I enjoy the Carter Lake ride out of Broomfield:  north on County Line Rd to 56, then left to Carter Lake.  You can return via Boulder or double back on the same route.

I plan to ride this weekend:  likely Saturday sometime.  Keep your rides posted - hopefully we can intersect

I've done the Confluence-centric trails before, super fun when living Denver proper...thing is there is supposedly a 15mph speed limit on the city trails. Now I'm based in Broomfield, very little bike trail complete, I'd much rather ride out of the front door than drive to ride.

Last Sunday I did 38 ish, just under 3 hours (a massive improvement for me, I'm sure it'd improve greatly without stopping wondering which way to go)

That looks reasonable, I haven't seen Carter Lake yet(?)...I'm really not familliar enough with area to gleen what "via Boulder" would look like...I need lotsa street names to look for.  And if I ride with Brad (cooutdoors) he'll have to look for the names I'll be too busy trying to keep up.    If I end up riding solo, I'll have a cheat sheet map in hand, most likely from googlemaps, in a loop style if I can manage it.

I learned long long ago on a survey crew, never ever tell the weather gods your plans, they just laaauugh!

I will definitely keep forum posted on ride, certainly anyone game is most welcome (though I won't be "pulling"---it is pulling right?  i mean that's the word for the fastest mother on the bike right?  the leader.)

here's the "via boulder" route (compliments of COgirl

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=43493 (south from Carter Lake to NoBo, then hit 52 to return to north burbs).

Oh - and prepared of - its quite the climb, but worth it.

It's not this weekend, but there is a semi-supported 68 mile group ride out of Echelon Spokes and Slopes in Lafayette next weekend which will probably be about the same ride as the one proposed.

We're doing a good chunk of that ride Sunday if anyone's interested. Only diff is we're continuing on to Ute highway and then shooting east to the Carter leg. Return route pretty much the same. Option to drop off and skip Carter Leg (returning on 75) should result in a 30-35 shorter ride option. Meeting @ 10AM at boulder rez.
