Comments: Since the race was changed to a duathlon the first leg of the race was a 3k run which was an out and back course. My time was 14:34 at a 9:34 pace. I made it a point to start slow so that I didn't die at the end of it all! What would you do differently?: I'm not sure that anything I could have done would have changed the end result (and I'm totally happy about that considering how it all turned out!) Transition 1
Comments: I think I could have been a bit quicker but this was my chance to kind of breath and get myself ready for the bike which was what I was really nervous about since this was the first time I had done a race that included it. What would you do differently?: Not slow down as much as I did. Bike
Comments: I started out a bit rough but once I settled down it was a lot of fun. The course was really easy ~ except for the fact that the guy yelling "U turn" confused the shit out of several of us and we wasted some time trying to figure out if we were supposed to turn around or keep going. And hitting your brakes when you (unknowingly) have someone on your arse is not the smartest move for the guy about ran into me while we were trying to figure out if that was the turn around! What would you do differently?: Not sure what I could have done, if anything. Transition 2
Comments: With this being my first race and experiencing transitions, it went better than I would have thought as I was really nervous about how it all worked. What would you do differently?: Not sure...funny thing is that I have NO idea what the hell I was doing for 2 minutes!! Run
Comments: I paced myself really well until I saw what I thought was the finish line. I came around the corner (after having picked up the pace)only to find that I had to run around the park. No prob, I thought until I saw runners waaaaay on the other side of the park. Needless to say, I had to dig deep (and send up a few prayers to The Big Guy and Mom) to finish running when I really wanted to walk. What would you do differently?: Learn the course! Post race

Woke up an hour earlier than my alarm was set for and after lying there for 1/2 hour I finally got everyone up, got ready, ate and headed out the door.
Did I mention that I had to change my tire in the parking lot the day before at turn in? NO? Well, I did then the morning of, I get to the transition point and am pumping up my tire when and when it was getting the best of me I pulled it off only to find that part of my valve stem (sorry, don't know what it's called) was broke. I about broke down in tears when I calmed myself and got over to the maintenance tent and they changed it (again) for me!!
Since I had about 2 hours to waste, I hung with the family (mostly chasing Sammi), watched the start of the oly race, then finally jogged around a bit and stretched.
