Total Time = 1h 23m 17s
Overall Rank = 35/490
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 1/24
Pre-race routine:

Got woken up by my cat chirping at 3 am. Got up and read. Drank my morning latte and ate a banana. Got to the race about an hour a head of time. Scoped out the situation. Talked with my transition neighbors.
Event warmup:

Stretched and swam a lot. I need to be in the water for at least 15 minutes prior to the swim. If I don't swim a ton I get winded and weirded out. I usually get out 5-7 minutes before the race starts.
Swim
  • 5h 46m
  • 400 yards
  • 1h 26m 30s / 100 yards
Comments:

Thought my swim was better than this. I am not complaining, but my watch said 5:09. Maybe I was dazed and confused, nonetheless I am happy with this swim. One of the easiest OWS you could ever imagine. It is a man-made lake. Ha.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Learn to swim straight.
Transition 1
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

I am happy with this considering I was frozen solid. I had trouble with my wetsuit on my left foot. It came off eventually. Tried to get the Taminators arm warmers on. Failed. :(
Bike
  • 49m 44s
  • 16 miles
  • 19.30 mile/hr
Comments:

Oh my....I bike in this shit all the time, but it was brutal being wet and being severely under-dressed. I did my best, but once again I could not feel my stroke. I did a lot of mashing. I hate mashing. When the wind got tough I would focus on circular pedal strokes. It always helps me pick up the speed again.
What would you do differently?:

Can't think of a thing except push it harder, maybe.
Transition 2
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

Not bad. Could have been faster, but could NOT feel my feet. Yikes. Everyone struggled.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 24m 44s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 57s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

We need to work on my running. I feel good about this run, but I would love to do a 7.5 minute per mile. Someday.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Race conditions were less than optimal. I did my best considering.

Event comments:

Weird food selection after the event. I do not want soggy pancakes. Yucky.

I was hoping to be under an 8 minute mile and look at that. I just squeaked by. I could not feel my feet until mile 2. I ran with an older gentlemen who I had passed on the bike. He took me on the run. He said he couldn't feel his feet either. That made me feel better. Here I thought I was the only one with numb feetsies.

YOU ARE A STUD! Congratulations on the hardware.  So much of your report mirrors my own, my feet were frozen until the 2m mark too.  While you took less than 2mins in T1, I took over 4' so that i could put on arm warmers, a jacket and gloves.  At least that part of me was toasty.

Totally agree on the pancakes and sausage. YUCK.

Nice hardware action.  Geez, I thought you rocked the swim.  I compared the run on Sunday to running on stumps or at least that's what my feet felt (or didn't feel for that matter) like.

Great race, running tall girl.

Great race! I got cold just reading about it. Brrrr! But you toughed it out. They probably should have served hot coffee / hot chocolate at the finish.
