Swim
Comments: Probably my worst swim ever! Thought I was getting a good position but then more people came and I was stuck in the middle front.(wanted to be to a side) Started out ok and was with the leaders but then got off course and couldn't get back with everyone. Then I couldn't get into a good breathing rhythm so was only breathing off my rt side which took me off course again(maybe that is why I think the course was longer?) going around the buoys I should have went wider. There were people hanging on them and I got caught up on them. and stuck behind slower swimmers and couldn't pass them. Was glad to get out of the water! What would you do differently?: Practice more OW and with the wetsuit. Really couldn't reach and roll like I have been. Transition 1
Comments: I think I was having a phone conversation with Rich(scoobysdad) This was really bad! What would you do differently?: Practice getting out of wetsuit more. bodyglide on heels? I put powder in my shoes but with wet feet it didn't help. Bike
Comments: Put average for most because I suck at it all! I really just need more tits! I did get into aero for most of my ride and felt comfortable there. Roads were wet and it was raining so I didn't push as hard as I wanted to. At one point a guy and I were playing cat and mouse...he'd kick my azz on the uphill and I would pass him on the downhill. We did this the last half of the bike, unfortunately for me there was an uphill right at the end so he made it into T2 before I did. But I caught him on the run and did not see him till after the race. What would you do differently?: More TITS! Transition 2
Comments: ummm yeah! I sooo need to work on these! I didn't even put socks on for the run and this still sucked! I couldn't get my feet into my shoes again. What would you do differently?: Just more practice! Need to see what others do to get wet feet into shoes. Run
Comments: I started getting abdominal cramps right off the bike. not sure if I didn't drink enough or if it was from my earlier nutrition? Started at a slower pace thinking they would go away. Nope made it worse. Walked a bit on the big hill started running slowly then passed the guy from the bike and caught up with a first timer that I meet at Lauren's clinic the day before. Chatted with her a few seconds and then had the talk with myself that if I ran I would get done faster and could die after! I So I picked up the pace at the turnaround and never looked back. the faster pace seemed to help the cramps? Checked my watch and realized I could still meet my goal of sub 1:30. Crossed at 1:29! This was painful but I think I PR'd my 5K for a race! What would you do differently?: figure out nutrition, did I eat too much/ not enough? need more water? not sure. Post race
Warm down: Walked a bit with hubby and kids, ate an orange slice,banana half, and half a bagel with PB. What limited your ability to perform faster: The rain and cold were a big part. First time with a wetsuit. Not enough riding outside on the bike. Really need to practice transitions Event comments: Race needed more markings on the bike and run. Not very many volunteers(the ones that were there were great!) Cops were at the intersections but in their cars! Only on the one were they out directing traffic. Last updated: 2009-06-01 12:00 AM

Up at 4AM ate some oatmeal (didn't sit well) tried a banana it was ok. Had some coffee and drove to the race site.
ran part of the run course(up the big hill) wrestled into the wetsuit (I think that was warm up enough!) got in the cold water and tried to catch my breath. swam a few strokes then sat chatting with other sprinters.
