Event comments:

This race was supposed to be fun for me. It was NOT fun. The wind picked up really bad right before my wave started. The water was choppy and I gave it a go but I couldn't recover even floating so I knew I better pull out before it was an emergency.

I rode my bike downtown to pick up my stuff. I was a little upset at first but then the rain just kept coming. I was freezing cold and glad that I wasn't on the course.

Live and learn. I'm glad I gave it a shot but am not too disappointed because I really didn't spend hours in training for this race. So I'm out the $200 bucks.

I'm scoping out a 70.3 in August. I think I'm DONE with cold water swims too. They are just miserable.

That's too bad. I'm glad you voluntarily pulled out though and didn't have to for medical reasons. Brad and I saw you coming out and we were worried.

A for efffort.  You towed the line... That in itself is brave!  It was a really tough day! I thought I was swimming in the ocean for a little bit out there! If your August race is Lake Steven's... Water is better.  Train for hills.  It is a hilly bike!  Go get em' and keep your head up!

That was a brutal swim. You did the smart thing. Better to be safe. There are some warmer halfs in August and September. Wish you luck.
