Good morning BTers,

I'm going to a work conference this week in Ocean City (I know, life is hard ) and I'd like to get in some OWS while I'm there.

I am going to bring a couple brightly colored swim caps and and talk to the lifeguard so s/he knows to keep an eye out for me..

Any suggestions on swimming in the ocean by myself?

thanks
trish

Swim in the bay.  A little better and safer too.  Not sure if there is a tri group down there to swim with in the early AM.  There are some spots in the Assawoman (yes thats a real name) that are fairly safe from boats that will allow you to swim with some good distance.

the only one I can offer is that the best way to fend off a shark attack is to punch the shark in the tip of its nose.

keep all those MD  DA,s away from MacKays !! Tell Colleen I said hello !!

If you have someone to follow in a kayak you could swim the canals in and out fairly safe not much current  otherwise If you are swimming in the Ocean try and see wind direction and if possible swim with it however most likely a sea breeze this time of year

Swin down closer to the lower street numbers  there are more guards per block than up further and you can go to Thrashers for fries when you get out of the water

By your name and pic I'm guessing you are a female.  So if you want to get the lifegaurd's attention wear as little swimsuit as possible.  You can try to swim to international waters and back and he'll keep his eyes locked on you.  Just kidding (well sort of)

I don't know how much your ocean drops off there.  But when I did a triathlon in the ocean, about 50ft out or so you could walk about chest high easily.  Plus you are more boyount in the ocean and float much better.

I'd want to be exiting the water around 142nd street so I could get some Ponzetti's pizza for lunch. :-)

I got in trouble down in hilton head for swimming out too far. I had no idea they had rules about that, so you might want to make sure before you try.
