Starting to look like I'll be on the outside looking in for this one due to financials. If the sprint still has openings in 3 weeks maybe I can do a late signup, but with the move and the wedding I'm looking to be out. Plus, I need new tri-shorts. I learned my lesson about putting them through the wash at the laudromat.

The fiancee and I will come watch at least for sure, and I'm going to look into what volunteering entails.

Damn, now I know I am not the only clyde silly enough to do both. Just when I thought I had a chance to podium due to lack of attendance.

I signed up for the wait list (or since Im a clyde, does that make it the "weight list"?) so maybe I'll get a call.

I'm thinking I might take my bike on the commuter rail Sunday morning to go check out the bike course and lake for the oly.

Anyone interested in an easy ride of the course and maybe a swim, say 10ish?  I barely broke an avg of 15mph at the Webster Lake tri, so don't expect any super big speeds from me... but I also don't mind being challenged, so any company is welcome.

Is anyone doing the pasta dinner on Sat or is everyone meeting up at the restaurant mentioned in the dinner thread?

Did not even know about the option for the pasta dinner. I will post it in the other thread and see what sticks. My only reservation is that, knowing our group, 1.5 hours for dinner may not be enough time based on what the times for seatings were for the Pasta dinner. Definately recession friendly though.

I signed up for the OLY a month ago but since then I've my knee has been acting up big-time.  I may or may not do it but if not then I'm in for the sprint--I figure 20 minutes of pain is much more doable than 45!

More nervous and, actually, undecided, than excited.  I signed up for the OLY because my team--MRC--needs the numbers to win the team title.  However, I've never done an OLY and have had a ton of knee issues the past few months.  Despite my best efforts I haven't done NEARLY enough training, especially on the run.  I have one 6+ mile run in the past two months, period, and probably a a dozen runs since the beginning of July in total.  The swim will be fine, the bike will be fine, but the run...well, a 'struggle' is probably understating it.

I'm doing the Timberman sprint this weekend.  I think I'm going to reassess the Cranberry after that, if I'm feeling good I'll go for it, otherwise I might see if htey can switch me to the Sprint.

MRC is who talked me into this with the 'you will be fine just rest' after Timberman 70.3.   HA!!! So it might be a REALLY slow race for me but points is points!

Yeah, that's a tough double, especially since Timberman, from what I've heard, has a pretty tough bike course on the 70.3.

If you're worried about recovery just think of Weiler (another MRC member): did Wildflower, which has a pretty brutal bike and a really tough run course; then the next Saturday did a 55 mile road race followed the next day by the Season Opener...and he won his AG.   You'll be great, just get lots of rest next week.  Me, I'm just worried about finishing, which is actually kind of annoying to me since I know, with a proper training plan and no injuries I'd be just fine and more worried about finishing in the top half of the AG than just surviving.  Oh well, it'll be fun regardless.

Ok here is my spin. As long as your club is not going against Trifury in Div 1, go ahead and race...just kidding

Seriously though, for club points, I have walked the entire 6.2 miles just to get the finsih in. As for being under preped, I think I logged about 2 hours running last month, and not much better this month. I should so PR the oly after racing the sprint on Sat....NOT!!

As for the happy dance, leading the congo line here. I am already looking forward to 2010 if it helps
