Hi,

If anyone has any tips/advice about the Nevis tri, I'm all ears.  It's my 1st.  I don't live real far away so I'm driving up there next week and bike the course.

Yep, I've done it a couple times. My parents live 1 mile from the bike course and I grew up in Nevis.

Swim? Flat. It's pretty protected so it won't be wind blown unless we get a nasty wind.

Transition: The run up from the lake to T1 is a doozy. It's a bit cramped, so show up early.

BiKe: Pretty flat. Some of the roads have shoulders, but not all. Virtually no traffic control, but it's all right hand turns at corners.

Run: Flat out and back on the heartland trail.

Fun race. Friendly town. Say hi if you see me. I'll be the only guy there with a yellow QR Kilo.

Good luck!

I think B-One has also done the race and is planning to do it again this summer.

B One is the KING of the northwoods tri. I can't recall a time he hasn't podiumed there. Glad he's not in MY age group.

Thanks leapdog,

Sounds like when I go up for my bike ride I should swim a bit first and try out the run to T1.

We've actually been to Nevis quite a few times.  When our daughter was in HS her teams played Nevis (VB & BB).  We always went early and ate at "Steve and ??? Steak and Pizza" (can't exactly remember the name).  Pretty good food.

LadyNorth,

ps  I don't have a clue what a QR Kilo is but I'm going to google it .

B-One is only "participating" this year, due to his Lyme's Disease.  That might bring him down to the level of mere mortal

Good luck LadyNorth!  A QR Kilo is a brand and make of tri bike   Yellow is a pretty unique color for one, so look out for a yellow tri bike and I bet you'll find him.

I'll be there.

leapdog's description is as good as I have seen it described.

King is quite an overstatement. Knight or bishop sounds good, but pawn seems more appropriate.

BTW it is Steve and Jill's. I will try to arrange a place to meet as the date gets closer.

I have done most of the sprints in the northern part of the state and it is my favorite. It has a good course and is well organized. You also get that small town friendliness and hospitality you don't always get at other events.
