My swimming doesn't suck, but I am a reformed sprinter in the pool.
My swim was okay, but I have only trained the swim once since October. I'll take it. Slow and steady
T1, the best I've ever had. The people that passed me in the pool were left in my speedy transition dust. Although I did walk out of the pool, I was a tad winded. I got to the rack with my bike and pulled on my shoes,
(sans socks
), grabbed the sunglasses, helmet and put them on, grabbed the bike and was gone. Transition out was a mere two racks away.
Bike, a slow start on the bike, but this was planned, I didn't want to bury myself in the first 3 miles. Once I got off Chalks Rd, I was cooking. I averaged 14.5 mph for the bike and I never average that fast. I had a good ride, and was passed a couple of times, but my point for this race was to race myself and be happy with being there and do well. I flew into the dismount line, off the bike and into T2.
T2, a little bit slower for the fact that I walked again. I got dismounted and didn't feel rubber legged for the first time and was shocked considering how hard I rode the bike leg. Grabbed my water, got my socks and shoes on, helmet off, race # on and was gone.
Run/Walk, OMG the run, was hellaciously hilly. And I know the person who laid it out and I was cursing her name on every single uphill. By the turnaround, I could barely walk and there sure as hell would be no running with a dead foot. My foot was numb until around the time I got back to the water station. My daughter and hubby found me at the top of that final big hill and my daughter stayed with me through the finish line. She's a little sweetheart.
I don't know my results yet, because once I finished, I vacated. I knew I was slow and no way in hades that I placed. So I left and we snagged some food on the way home and then a nice 2 hour nap.
