Yesterday I completed my first tri!  It was an awesome race with only one real snafu (timing chip came off in my wetsuit so I show a DNF officially but I know I finished so who cares, I'm not competing for podium that's for sure!).  I felt so confident all day with what I was doing and really felt almost no nerves, just pure excitement.  I attribute that to all of the information I gathered here and knowing exactly what my plan was every step of the way based on the info here.  So, thank you to everyone here for being there for me as I raced yesterday. In this process I've lost 50 pounds (with more to go but it's progress), made my life 1000 times better, and found a spirit within me that I didn't know existed.

Here's a little video of my day.  The song was one I'd never heard until I was driving to the race yesterday morning and I found it VERY fitting.

BTW - I swore I wouldn't post one of these first tri threads but I just can't help myself I am still on cloud nine and don't expect to come down anytime soon.  Well, maybe next week post surgery when my doc reminds me I can't exercise for 3 weeks.

Congratulations again.
I really enjoyed the video and have some of the same pics of the early morning on my camera.  We were very fortunate to have warm water (relatively speaking). Last year it was very cold!!
Maybe I will see you at one of the tris in the future.

First tri, not my first multi-sport.  I've been training since April of 2008 but due to injury couldn't run after May of last year.  And really, why do  you care?  Are you the post count police?

Thanks to everyone else, it really was a lot of fun and I hope that I can help others to be just as excited about it!

And why would that matter anyway (the amount of posts/length of time on this site prior to first tri)??

Great job!!!!

Like I wrote in your race report...YAAAA!!!! Many CONGRATS to you my fellow Triathlete! I was wondering how it went all day...hoping yours was better than mine.

I can't do you tube here, but I think you might have my favorite song...is it the Miley Cyrus song??

I'll have to watch it when I get home!

CONGRATS again!!

Congratulations TRIATHLETE!!

Did the race have a photographer?  If so (or you have pictures someone took of you on the bike and run course), you might be able to change your official status from DNF.  Ask the Race Director what their contingency is for a lost timing chip.  He should have something beside "DNF and I'm charging you $30 for the replacement."

You're awesome! I love the videos of first tri experiences; they make me anxious and excited to do my first race. Though, I can't believe I was just inspired while listening to a Hannah Montana song...

Seriously!  When I heard the song I grabbed my iPhone and used Shazam to get the artist/song info.  I was shocked when I saw the artist and had to think twice about using it.  But it's too fitting for my story not to.

Good luck on your first race!

And thanks again to everyone for the cheers and support both public and in private notes, it really does mean a lot.  I may contact the RD about the DNF, thanks for the idea.
