jasmine - 2005-05-02 10:23 AM In watching the 2 hours, it was the stories of everyday people that inspired me more than the pros. Maybe it's because I'm an "everyday" person...as were the rest of the people watching the coverage.

Got to agree wholeheartedly with Jasmine. The performance of the gentically gifted, full-time, completely sponsored pro athletes has little attraction to me, and little bearing on why I am in the sport. Let me hear about those who juggle life, careers, families while trying to make do with affordable equipment and limited training time. Like madcow and Tiger Phil! Those are the guys that get my respect.

Holy Crap!!! The Bear said he respected me.
That is the icing on the cake! Doesn't get any better than that

DaveH - 2005-05-02 8:04 AM I would like to see more coverage of the top pros, but NBC seems to be aiming the program at non-triathletes. DaveH
I disagree there. They gave a huge amount of coverage to the pros in the first 1.5 hours. I was actually bummed that they didn't show any coverage of the "average joe" triathletes. They did those "human interest" stories, but a good portion of the show was following the elite athletes. In watching the 2 hours, it was the stories of everyday people that inspired me more than the pros. Maybe it's because I'm an "everyday" person...as were the rest of the people watching the coverage.
My favorite part of the broadcast was watching the non-pros cross the finish line. Just  awesome.

Next time there's an Ironman, watch ironmanlive.com between hours 14-17. It's incredible.

Sometimes. Seldom. Never. Are you out of your mind?

I guess I'm just not much of a watcher, more of a doer. Not a whole lot of entertainment value in watching a triathlon,

Ahh, but to watch and learn what works and what doesn't.  Kinda like reading race reports.

The Bachelorette is not an NBC show? Well, I stand corrected. Now I'm completely at a loss to explain why NBC gave it so much air time in their Ironman coverage.

I agree. I have watched my videotape of last year's Lifetime Fitness triathlon at least 10 times. I always catch something new and get a boost of inspiration. I also find it exciting, even though I KNOW who's going to win
