Pre-race routine:

Woke up 3am, coffee, bagel and last minute prep. Did the stoooopid subway shuffle taking the F into Brooklyn 1 stop and then catching an A back to Manhattan which took way to long. Still enjoyed the early morning party animals meandering around the city at that hour
Event warmup:

After the brief down pour, dried off my stuff set everything up and headed out for the mile walk to swim start
Swim
  • 24m 4s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

Stronger but still have sighting issues - did figure out a 3/1 technique today so I'm excited to try it for my HIM
What would you do differently?:

OWS before race, but no worries as I was not "racing" per se
Transition 1
  • 09m 30s
Comments:

This run to the Yellow transition is just always so annoying. I wish they would switch the reds and yellows out alternate years. I decided to walk/jog this because I didn't want my PF to act up.
Bike
  • 1h 35m 9s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 15.67 mile/hr
Comments:

Still my weakest link - what can I say More time in the saddle - did expirament w/ some harder gears - had some shifting issues in the 2nd ring - need a tune up!
What would you do differently?:

nothing - training race
Transition 2
  • 02m 50s
Comments:

Easy - no bike shoes - but it will be my last, clipless go on this week
Run
  • 59m 59s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Getting my running back - slowly. No PF issues today, just cardio weakness due to not enough running in my training to date - this will no doubt get better the closer I get to IMFL
What would you do differently?:

na
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around expo w/ LZM got a massage (nice) and then made the long haul back to transition and subway ride home by myself

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Too early in my training season

Event comments:

Love this race despite some mean people (elite/pro wannabes) I encountered out there today. For the most part everyone was in good spirits and supportive. The support crew was the best (thanks Jonah) and the crowds as always were terrific.

Congrats on your race. I know how hard PF can be to get rid off. That loooong road to transistion cannot be good for it. My feet hurt a bit from yesterday's run to transition (and I only had to go to red!). My right heel hurts.

Big step in getting clipless pedals. Make sure you have it on an easy setting until you get used to it. Once you are very comfortable clipping in and out, you can tighten it up a bit. Also, once you get used to them find a quiet street and do some one legged exercises (take one foot out and just pedal with the other leg). Then reverse.

Good luck in IMFL.
