Any Aquabikers out there that want to share their experience?  I know some of you cant run due to injury, and some, like me, who just hate to run.

I did one because I couldn't run due to injury..I wouldn't do it because I hate to run though. The race I did we were given our finisher medals at the back of the bike area..no announcement that we finished, nothing. It was lame.  I also felt like I didn't do the "whole thing".

LOL, were the medals 2/3 the size of the triathlon finisher medals?

I've never seen an aquabike in my area, but if there was one, I'd probably enter it. I like the idea. I also hate to run.

I've done 1 aquebike and won my age group. It was 7 days after a marathon otherwise I would have entered the tri. It was very painful, my legs were not ready to race major cramps from the start of the swim till the finish.

I did an aquabike last year when I had a stress fracture in my foot. Loved it since I'm not very good at running. I wish there was an Aquabike World Championships!!!

I did an aquabike as a nutrition test run for a HIM and a nice training day... it was a local event also..

I had a blast, and would do one again... There is a full aqua bike not too far from me and I'm thinking of that for next year

Yup, searching for aquabike races got me into tri's, True story.  I don't like to run, but i am learning how. Not sure if aquabikes became more relevent or popular that i would just do those and not run...i dunno, my running has come a long way and i still have a ton of room to improve it.

I did aquabike at Timberman last year because I was injured..I'd say most out of the 50 or so of us that were doing it, did it because of injury. It was ok but I like to run so was nonplussed about it.

I think it is a great event for people that can't or don't like to run. At least you can get out and compete without worrying about finishing the race because of the run.  I believe most branded HIM's have an aquabike catergory....I have never heard of  an aquabike stand alone race before.

Does anyone have links for races?  I'd never heard of these before but I saw an ad for one in a magazine I got at my last race.  I would LOVE this - I'm not exactly keen on running either....

I'll continue to race sprint tri's next year (2nd tri year), however I'll also be looking for oly length aquabikes because my swim and bike fitness are so far ahead of my run fitness.....although I'm making progressSmile  It'll give me more race experience, including T1, at distances longer than what I'll be racing in my sprints.  win win all around if you ask me

Have done 3 aquabike races. Two due to a knee injury that was just about healed and another one to tune up for a half ironman!! Had a blast and went home with hardware each time in Athena!! Being a big girl, my strengths are definitely in the water and on the wheels!!
