Subject: running shoe for 200lb pronator?
I've been running in Asics GT-2140's and Asics GT-2130's for the last two pairs of shoes and have liked them ok, but recently I've had some pain on my arches and I've had achilles issues for a while.  I've known I was due for some new shoes and the lady at the store told me that the GT-2140's may not have enough pronation-control.  She showed me the New Balance 850's but from what I've read they aren't necessarily great for heavier runners.

So, any recommendations for heavier runners with moderate over-pronation issues?

Thanks!

I have flat feet and wiegh 205.  I wear the New Balance 1011.  I like a wide toe box, they have it.  I have run 5k's and a half marathon in them.  I will buy another pair.  The new 1225 looks interesting for us big guys too.

I wear 2130's (which I'll replace with 2140's shortly) with a pair of superfeet insoles and they work great. I used to pronate so badly that it caused injuries all the way up my leg--calf, hip, etc. Since the shoes+insoles, no problems. COuldn't hurt to try a pair of $40 insoles before you try out a new $100+ pair of shoes that may not be the answer.

I'm an over-pronator, have gone from 258 lbs down to 224 lbs, Brooks Beast is working well for me. (but I am slow as a snail..)

I am about 200lbs, started at 230lbs with very flat feet and pronator, and went through 3 pairs of Brooks Beast.  I like the shoe very much, but felt a little heavy.  I just got Saucony ProGrid™ Ride 2 and have put about 25 miles in them this week.  I love them, very comfortable and light feeling.  Best advice hit up the local running store, skip the big sporting goods stores.

Another vote for the Brooks Beast.  I have also had good luck with Asics Evolutions.  With overpronation as well as being a Clyde, I would definitely recommend going to a local store that specializes in running and having them fit you to a shoe.  It is worth the extra effort and expense.

I'll second that whatever sort of stability shoe you decide on, getting a quality arch support is as important as the shoe.  I decided to replace my Brooks Beast with Asics Evolution, with a superfeet insole.  The Brooks served me well (with a foot solutions insert), but I like the change in how the evolution feel so far.  Worst case, I'd happily go back to the Brooks.
