Thanks to all of you that offered to pick up my stuff on your way out to Montauk. Unfortunately my house is locked up and no one in the area has keys to it

I'll be the one out there with nice new shoes on the bike and run My feet are going to be very unhappy with me during and after the race. Speaking of which, anyone want to meet up after the event?

I was thinking we should definitely meet up before or after the race and perhaps get a group picture.  It'll just be a matter of finding each other.  What would be the easiest wy to do that?

Okk probably a stupid rookie question but everyone has mentioned wearing long sleeves on top so I'll probably be fine with just wearing tri bottoms since my legs will be working alot?

You should have heard some of the "stupid" question I asked when I first started doing this.   THERE ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS.

And, you're correct, you should be fine in shorts on the bottom.

I was planning on wearing shorts on the bottom as well - long sleeve over short sleeve - worst case, I freeze, fall down, and become a speed-bump to the rest of y'all. Laughing

I feel so bad for those out there right now. Just heard thunder... so loud that it set off car alarms. Hope eveyone is ok and hope it clears out for tomorrow. As for the outfits, I'm wearing biking shorts, tri top and arm warmers. I have a light windbreaker type jacket that I'll throw on if it's cold/wet during the ride.

As for a group photo - I'm game. How about after the event? Lighting will be better. I can have my wife take the photo. Does anyone have a proposed time/spot?

Nate

Just checked out your suggested site : http://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bin/launch/code.cgi?Submit=Go&sta=KMTP&... - cool site

Looks like the wind will be nice and low, temp will be decent, just need to cross our fingers and hope that the rain will go away. Right now it says we have a 27% chance of rain in the morning (reduces to 15% chance at 11am). Or we can look at this in a positive way - 73% and 85% chance, respectively, that will will not rain!!!!!

I met Nathan on lap two of yesterday's run - we started talking, and he said "Yeah, I left my shoes..." I interrupted - "Are you on Beginner Triathlete?" And I had a new friend. How cool!!

I posted my race report on my blog - You're welcome to take a look! I'm kind of amazed that as of this morning, I can now check off "complete a half-ironman" from my list. Wow!

Yeah they ran out of food, and it's a gip they only give out water on the bike.  The Race Organizers are lacking in a lot of areas, but the fact that it's 1.5 hours away from me, and the fact that Montauk is a beautiful -- beautiful place (as is the whole east end of Long Island) will keep me coming back.

Rudy... dude, you had an unbeleivable first HIM.  Kudos and congrats.  You were a monster on the bike.

Congrats to everyone for completing a very challenging course!  All in all it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day!

Without giving a detailed version of my race, I finished at 6:11.  Swam well and came out of the water around 39 minutes.  Biked about 3:05 hours and then bonked hard on the run- 2:20.  Add in transitions and there you have it.   Great day, great weather.  Thanks for all the advice.  Best of luck to all.    Sorry I did not meet any of you.  Gary

BTW-  If I had any complaints it was not a great atmosphere for spectators after the race.  Seems like the isolated the participant and the food.  Would like a friendlier party for all.
