Ok so I am sure tomorrow I am going to wake up 250 million dollars to the plus.

If you hit the lotto and didn't have to work anymore what would you buy that is tri related?

www.beginnertriathlete.com

A new carbon, fully-decked out tri-bike, then a swimming pool in the backyard with a 50 yard lap pool (if the covenance allows it).

A house with a full equipped gym (treadmill, weights, space for bike on trainer, tv/dvd set up for entertainment, space for pilates work, etc), new tri and road bikes, new car with space to cart it all around. Wetsuit. Coach. Trips to do all the tris I want to all over the world.

I'd buy a top of the line tri bike for myself, plus hire a nutritionist, masseuse and coach. Then I'd buy my wife the convertible she's always wanted, so she can come watch me train and compete.

I would also create a triathlon program for juniors in my city. I would supply bikes and clothing. It would have a civic purpose that must be met in order for a person to continue, as well as grade requirements (don't have to be A's - but be improving towards them). Then I'd sponsor charitable runs/races that benefit the homeless.

It would be fun.

An Olympic-sized, private swimming pool...no peeing in the pool allowed BTers!

25% of it would go to charities (Lance Armstrong Foundation, and Organ Transplant foundations).  25% would go to my family for whatever they wanted, but with only one clause... each member of my family would have to do at least a sprint with me side by side and cross the finish line.

One lump sum or would you take it in instalments? Personally I would go with the installments, pay off the car and my student loans. then go buy a house with a large chunk of land. After that I would start getting a few toys here and there but mostly it would allow me TIME to train. Most of the money would go towards charity and investments outside of standard living wages. I would also use it to go BACK to university and get my PhD in Biological oceanography and/or master in teaching.

Oh and the house would have a seperate mother in law unit for my mom to move in to and maybe a second mother in law unit for my wifes parents to move into once they retire

Wow, in all my lottery dreaming, tris had never really taken center stage.

The first thing I would do is pay off all my debt, and all the debt of all my immediate family.

The second thing would be send my good friend to Somewhere Other Than His House while I spent $5M or so building him a state-of-the-art facility for his equine rescue, rehab, and breeding facility.

After that, it's fun time. I'd give the neighbor at my parent's retirement property an offer he couldn't refuse for his land to get him the heck off of there, then rehab the land he's beaten to hell. I'd train, I'd hike, I'd have some wicked cool toys. I'd give a lot of it away.

Mostly, I'd set up an account so I would never have to work again, unless I stumbled on some job I *wanted* to do. I'd probably run a race series for a few years. I'd get a Gold membership on BT. I'd enjoy living life without worrying about making ends meet.

Definately a top coach and all the gear I ever dreamed of.  Of course as this is the day after the drawing I can safely say that unless you bought your ticket in SC you didn't win.

Nothing right away... too much to do... financial teams to be interviewed, trusts to be established, lawyers to be hired.

After that... I would still wait... live off interest for a while, maybe a year, before making any true decisions with the money. $100M (after taxes) is a big number but it can vanish very, very quickly.

Lame... I know... but maybe a tri-bike... but I have been looking at those for a while now.

I'd get up the next morning around 9:30 and drive down to work and throw my keys at the front door, laughing the whole time.

I'd probably pay of dept, buy a few big ticket items, travel, buy a house in a cool place and tell all my friends/family they can go whenever they want, hire a chef... but first I'd hire someone to be the liaison between me and the media/lotto commission/etc so no one knew me.  Then come the financial planners, lawyers etc.

Seriously though.....I would buy a beachside property with a huge pool for laps and bordered off cove so I could choose to swim in the pool or go open water without havin to worry about anything.
