I think my friend got a shot of the exercise one.

I have the Ironmen are sexy...but not as sexy as Ironwomen sequence (they're in the above link that I posted earlier).

wibadger - 2010-09-17 11:08 AM This is a longshot, but if anyone managed to get a picture of the sign that said "You are really good at exercise", please post it here or send me a message. I'd love to add it to the collection. It was probably my biggest laugh of the day, so props to whoever made it! I laughed for minutes after I saw it on each loop (near the "Ironmen/Ironwomen are sexy" folks). And then to see it on State St late in the evening was just awesome. I'm sure I had a very goofy ear-to-ear grin at that point. I am really good at exercise.

The "Really good at exercise" was my favorite and I am still telling others about it.  Of course, the signs from my daughter and girlfriend meant more, but that's different.

Did you see the photo of the sign on the ChicagoNow blog?  Very funny!  "Wave if you are peeing in your wetsuit."  While a double entendre exists, only those in-the-know knows.  I don't know about others, but I will admit to "moo-ing" in my wetsuit.

RunningJayhawk - 2010-09-17 9:48 AM Here's a quick little piece with photos from the day that I pulled together from IMoo. http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/thats-awesome/2010/09/chicagoans-ta... />
This was an awesome piece with the pics that summarizes the day.  I haven't found a local (Madison) source that posted anything similar.

Loved those!

Also died laughing over the good at exercise. The signs are so fun. Last year at the top of one of the hills there was a guy with a sign about 4.5 feet tall that said "Make that bike your b*tch." I died laughing.

I was cracking up at the "Your really good at exercise" sign.  The other one I like was the "Your feet hurt from kicking so much A$$".  My feet were actually starting to ache on the run and it was great timing and helped me push on.

Another one, from the flat section just after the Midtown Road hill (I think), something to the effect of:

Find the pain cave and make it your home

Which doesn't really seem very positive. Regardless, I let the people know that I was currently living in the pain cave and they seemed to be happy about that.

Great write up, Barb!

My favorite signs that haven't been mentioned:

Don't fart in your wetsuit (with the picture of the kid in a bubble wetsuit, you've seen it)
Chuck Norris never did an Ironman
Hey random stranger! I am really proud of you!
**sequence** You've... Got... To... Mooooove it Mooooove it!
It's called IRONMAN, not (insert cat head photo)MAN
There will be a day when you cannot do this anymore. Today is not that day.

Thanks for the sign reminders. I had actually forgoten some of them, kind of like how painful it can be out there, after a few days it's all good.
My 14 yr old son just about died laughing when I pointed out to him that Chuck Noris is not an Ironman but your old dad is.

Okay, so did anyone learn something they might change for next year if they were to do the race again? Help those of us who are crazy enough to sign up for 2011!

Mine biggest one is probably not helpful to the masses but.... The major thing I took away from this year was I need to work on my core strength. I had major back issues on the run as in my body would not stand straight up unless I forced it to. Constantly. Made running pretty damn hard.

Did anyone download the athlete guide PDF by chance? When I went to download it as a point of reference for my husband, it had already been taken down...

Can anyone help a gal out?

I'd wear my helmet while on the trainer while in aero more.  My neck was killing me after 50 miles into the bike.  My long rides were on a road bike (don't like aero w/traffic) so I didn't have the endurace I needed to hold my head up.  Had to sit up for much of the last half.

I have to say the opposite. I live in Michigan and have fall allergies horribly. I was miserable all last week heading into the race. But on my drive as soon as I hit the bottom of Lake Michigan in Northern Indiana I was feeling relief. By the time I was in Madison I was like a new man. No runny nose or sneezing or watering eyes it was great. I was able to skip my allergy pill the whole weekend.

I got home on Monday and have been back to nasty allergies. Yell

I learned that I need a more efficient nutrition plan to still intake 450-500 calories an hour.  I need to check my salt intake as it might be too much (I had two bloody noses, possibly due to too much salt, or just pollen).  I need to focus on continuing interval work on the bike through peak and taper.

Just my two cents, but could it be brought on by stress?  Running your physical energy down, little sleep, aches and pains, stress of the race, etc. could all contribute.  I have been lucky not to have gotten anything, but keeping up my eating regimen and continuing to take my vitamins more often, and sleeping whenever I can has hopefully helped me.
