Pre-race routine:

Up at 5:00, coffee, english muffing w/pb, honey & banana, kid droppage, out the door by 6:30. Easy drive into town, street parking @ 18 & Vine by 6:45.
Event warmup:

Walked around a bit. Ran over to the trees a few times. Ran on the road a bit to warm up. Stretched, gave J my stuff and had to climb over the barrier at the corral since people wouldn't move in.

Comments:

Started out pretty fast and just kept going. Stopped checking my pace by mile 5 or so. Just ran by feel. I was hovering around 7:21 or so. I slowed a bit and kept steady at 7:25 for a while but saw that slowly creep up. By mile 11 or so I started getting passed by more than a few and noticed I was at 7:29. I sped up for the last mile or so and finished at 7:27 according to Garmin. Don't have the official numbers yet plus I know I was off by about .10 of a mile. A lot of turns early on and a lot of people made it almost impossible to follow the tangents.

What would you do differently?:

Not much. I didn't train specifically for this race but it fit in well with my HIM training.

Great race!  Solid pacing.

Was almost wishing I had been ready to run this given near-perfect weather.

Good job!  Watching everyone finish made me wish I had decided to run instead of watching from the sidelines.

Not sure what happened at mile 8. I picked it up around 11 but obviously I slowed a lot on 12. Having people pass me got me moving again.
