anyone interested in training with me for the revolution 3 series??  i am planning on doing the olympic in knox, the 1/2 IM in middleberry, and finally the full IM in sandusky.  I live in the chattanooga area, but I am doing most of my training in the jasper/whitwell area....

I'll be racing in Sandusky,  and I'll be at the one in Knoxville (obviously) but I'm not yet decided if I'll be volunteering or racing. Depends on how much it will set back my IM plan.

Good luck everybody!

I'm not doing the Rev3 in Knoxville, but I will be doing the less expensive Knoxville Volunteer Olympic Tri on June 20.  If anyone is training in the Knoxville Area, let me know.  I live in Maryville, about a mile from the Alcoa/Maryville Greenway.  Great place to train.  I also have access to a track that is rarely ever occupied on weekends.

Sounds good.  I'm just getting back on the bike and back in the pool, so don't hurt me too bad.

Howdy..Flatlander here from Midland, Texas.  Looking forward to visiting Knoxville and racing in the Olympic distance.  Can someone more familair with the area give me a heads up with the terrain?  swim bike and run.  are we talking huge climbs on the bike? cold water?  I really have no clue about the temperature in May.

Thanks in advance.

KNOXVILLE BOUND!!!

How is everyone doing?

Fired up?

Only a few weeks to go!

Does anyone have any expereince with the TN River @ Knoxville?  General temperatures around May 9th-ish, current, etc.?

Be safe, healthy, and train well.

Peace,
~Sam

I'm so bummed, I'm racing the half, but the OLY will have a great pro show down, the professional team of Trakkers challenged the K-Swiss/Trek team -winner takes 5k.    Should be a good pro race!

Leegoocrap (Chris) can help with that.  Asked him, he said hard to tell right now unfortunately.  I am worried about that to, but am excited about the race!

it's looking like weather is going to be in the mid 70's on race day... however, earlier in the morning that means somewhere in the high 50's - mid 60's. Definitely wear a wetsuit... got in the lake last weekend and it was wicked cold.

It was low 80's today with a bit of cloud cover. Rained last night pretty bad, but 80's the rest of the week... until Saturday.

Rain Forecast Saturday, still hovering in the 70's

Sunday it's supposed to be cloudy high 60's to mid 70's no rain (forecast yet that is)

No flooding around here.

This was my first Tri and it was great to see some fellow BT'ers there at the BT booth! I had a blast and got to meet Matty Reed, Russ Lee, and Erik Birkholz, Heather Gollnick etc. It was my first time in open water and I was terrified! Got major claustrophobic on Saturday's practice swim and my HR jumped to 180bpm! At race time, I went too hard for about the 1st 300m and had to catch my breath on my back. Then I tried to take it easier around the buoy and then finally relaxed, got into my rhythm and finished in 30:00. Got off course a couple of times and had to clean my goggles a couple of times as well. Stopped and prayed with a guy who got hit by a mini-van on the bike course and still averaged almost 17mph. The run was fine but I kind of held back because this was my first time and I didn't want to run out of gas on the home stretch. All in all, I finished in 3:10 and took 4th in my age group. Not bad for a 56 yr old first timer!! I think I could get addicted really easy!
