We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the 8th Annual Lillie Glassblowers Tundra Time Trial!

Due to the recent floods, we are relocating the start of the race to the Rambo Nursery Trail head on the Silver Comet Trail. We will then race approx 10 miles (5 miles out and back).

The new start location is a few miles down the road from the start location for previous years.

Come battle the elements and see who can best the course and take home the best trophies in cycling!!


Start Time: 8:30 a.m. First rider off at 8:31 a.m.
Date: Sat. Feb. 14, 2009
Location: Hiram, Georgia
Distance: Approximately 9.5 miles
Registration fee: You can register early through February 4th, 2010 for $23. After that, regular registration rate of $33 applies. Online registration will close February 11th at noon.

Day of Registration Fee: $45.00, available from 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. Day of registration closes 8 a.m.

Insurance fee applies to all riders per event (+$2 insurance).

-- Start: Hiram/ Silver Comet Trailhead. (Rambo Nursery Trail Head)
-- Travel east towards Atlanta on the Silver Comet Trail.
-- Go out 5 miles and turn around. The exact turn around point will be marked with an orange cone the day of the event.

*Rider launch times: Earlier registered = later start time.

Please train, practice, and ride the course often as possible, prior to the Time Trial.

Does everyone know this is Valentines Day weekend?  Just saying...there are those of us that do not get to do individual activities on this specific weekend.  Focus on the WE instead...  :-)

Nice!  You have taken the "life stye" approach to a new level.  I like it.

Anyone planning any training runs on the new course? I've actually never been on the Comet and need to do some practicing before the TTT. Isn;t the Comet pretty much flat? If so, I can simulate also at the Velodrome.

Considering bike, gear and babysitter expenes ... extra chocolate and dinner at Woodfire Grill would probably be cheaper.

Okay, I was considering signing up for this, but am Very afraid. I've never done any singular cycling event (except for century rides) and am not a great cyclist. Will I be the only one??

No ... each year there are more and more first timers. For example, last year was my first time.

It is relatively simple: they have a time trial start where riders are released every 30 seconds. They give you an estimated start time and you queue up as your time nears by number.

When it is your time to start then someone holds you upright so that you can clip in.  While waiting for your the word "go", you apply a little pressure to the pedals so that when the timer says "Go" the handler can let go and you pedal away. The point of this is to take away the time it takes to clip in so that it does affect your time.

To put it into perspective, my 10 year old son did it last year with 20 other members of his youth cycling team (Frazier Cycling) ... you can definitely do it.

It is a tight turn ... one that I did not execute too well last year which cost me time.  Remember to downshift before the turn and to keep your inside pedal up!
