Thanksgiving morning race in dowtown Laurel. Fun race; I did it last year. They had pies last year as AG prizes. I want my pie again, so all fast 30-39M stay away!

It's thanksgiving morning (Thrusday Nov, 26), on Main St. in Laurel at a church (8:00am).  You can't miss it.  My family and I do it every year.

The Howard County Striders Prediction 10K Run is Thanksgiving morning as well from the Jeffers Hill Neighborhood Center. You can't wear a watch or a IPOD. Registration opens at 9:30 AM and you can start anytime you want after you register. The winner is the runner who finishes the closest to 11:00 AM. It's a chance for all of us BOP's to win one.

4 days after IMAZ?  Dude, your legs are gonna be fried ........ wouldn't expect a pie with that sort of recovery time!

Have to see if I'm available to run.  We usually do a big Thanksgiving but may not this year.  Would be interesting to see what sort of 5k time I can put up with my heart medication.

Ha! IMAZ is just a tune-up for the LARS CARMAX 5K. Fortunately, one did not have to be very fast last year to go home with Thanksgiving dessert. At least in my age group...

I think the oldest and I might be doing it.  He's 9 and can run the distance.  Not sure about the AG breakdown though as he thinks he can win a pie.  I told him if it is 17 and under then he can forget about that as high school kids will crush him and it is not easy for him to compete against that age.

For those of you needing some extra motivation: I registered tonight, and they let me know that pies are back.

I'm conceding my dessert to Rick and the other faster guys. I will instead be focusing my efforts on pacing my father to victory in the 70+ AG.

Actually, after IMAZ on Sunday, I'll probably be watching him pull away..

Good luck, all!

Right now I'm thinking I'll barely be able to break 20.  I do not have a lot of confidence with the way I've been feeling lately and the heart medication.  We'll see how it goes.  Hopefully we can still register as walk ups!

If anyone finds the pictures let me know, I'm not looking forward to seeing my finish pic.
I'm hoping they delete it.  Steve, let me know if you want a pacer on your next 5k, I know it helps me a lot to have a friend running by my side to push me along.  I have a theory that if you can make all your miles within 5-10 seconds of each other assuming each mile is somewhat similar in terms of difficulty, and you are completely exhausted with little to no energy left over to sprint at the finish, then you've spread your energy over the entire race as efficient as possible and achieved the best time possible with the energy that you have.  It's based off the fact that you get deminishing returns on your energy at faster speeds and each person has a fuel tank of fixed size.  I get all these requests to pace all these girls... like this one her name is Christy I told her I'd get her under 2:00 in the half and we did, but I had to yell at her to slow down so much in the beginning.      References available upon request.   (jk, I haven't had a requst in a long time, but I'd be more than gald to help if you want)
