Subject: you can't please 'em all

I haven't been in COJ for so long, but thought this would make someone smile. my family business PatriaPet has a temporary kiosk in a local mall (Garden State Plaza) Paramus NJ to sell our products (dog collars and leashes in national flag designs and dog tees and treats) for the holiday season. So far, its been slow - really slow - painfully slow. But I digress...

I got confirmation of "you can't please 'em all" in this exchange:
"do you have the Italy flag design?"
yes the one you touched before
"oh, but do you have it in the flag design?"
yes, the one with green white and red bars - representing the national flag of Italy
(customer points to our USA collar - which has the stars and stripes)
"no, i mean like in a flag pattern, like this"
but the red green and white bars of the Italy design are the pattern, solid horizontal bars of those three colors
"yeah, but it looks so Christmas-y"
*sigh* that's the design ma'am
"ok thanks" (walks away)

You can't please 'em all, but remember how incredibly happy and pleased you have made the ones that count.

That's awesome. My keyboard doesn't think so, but it was totally worth hoarking water out of my nose to get that laugh.

This is just what I imagine the bear to look like when he is incredibly happy and pleased.

the whole "stuck in a mall" thing has given me a new perspective on things - with humor, I've found and learned new things about people, their parenting and fashion choices, etc...

like the people who stand and admire our products for minutes on end, saying oh do you have my country, Scotland (for example) - why yes we do! what kind of dog do you have? oh we don't have a dog - mmmmmmkthxbai

or the strange questions I get asked, like does the mall have a tattoo parlor, where can I find XX store, can you validate my parking, can I eat one of the dog treats...

today's revelation is that i must have some previously untapped power to morph because a girl with body odor so bad you could see it has come up to our kiosk three times - not once, not twice, but three times to ask me if we're hiring
