Total Time = 12h 53m 48s
Overall Rank = 1334/
Age Group = F35-40
Age Group Rank = 51/119
Pre-race routine:

Got up early (because I really couldn't sleep) and ate a bowl of oatmeal. Went back to bed and tried to relax and think about the race and having an easy day. Packed up the car around 4:00 and drove to the race site. Pumped tires, loaded nutrition and changed out some gear in my bags. Walked around and talked to a few people. Sipped some gatorade and ate half a gu before getting to line up for the swim.
Event warmup:

Mostly walking around and shivering in the cold.
Swim
  • 1h 18m 28s
  • 4224 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

There are just bodies everywhere in a mass start. We started right in the middle which was a mistake. It was impossible to draft since the group never thinned during the course.
What would you do differently?:

Start at the front. Round the turn bouys wider.
Transition 1
  • 13m 45s
Comments:

Wetsuit strippers are awesome. The water was freezing cold so it was tough to get acclimated and gather my thoughts in transition. I had a really hard timing getting warm.
What would you do differently?:

Focus more on the next part of the event and move faster with a plan.
Bike
  • 6h 30m 7s
  • 112 miles
  • 17.23 mile/hr
Comments:

I gave it away in the bike. I could have gone much harder than I did. The course was relatively easy and I never really struggled probably because I never really pushed my pace.
What would you do differently?:

Go harder and keep HR around 150 instead of 140.
Transition 2
  • 08m 31s
Comments:

AGain, there was no focus on my part in transition.
What would you do differently?:

Focus
Run
  • 4h 42m 59s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 10m 48s  min/mile
Comments:

The first part of the run was great and I was able to hold around 9:30 for the first 8 miles. The second lap was good and I lost time changing socks at mile 13. At the end I was having a tough time and had to negotiate to keep running no matter how slow I was going.
What would you do differently?:

Get better shoes and socks and not give up 5 minutes changing socks.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking around
