Event warmup:

Ran up the hill to the west entrance and back down.
Run
  • 26m 16s
  • 4 miles
  • 06m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

I was in the 4th wave, each one started 1 minute after the one before. So I knew I would have traffic to get through. It was icy in some spots and dry in others. Mile 1 I wanted to go fast as I knew going back on the path with the snow I would be much slower. So mile 1 was 5:47, mile 2 6:42, mile 3 6:56, mile 4 6:42. Ended up first in the agegroup and was looking to pad the lead here on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, felt good.
Transition 1
  • 02m 34s
Comments:

So the transition time was from the 4 mile mat time! So we ran an extra 200 yards to get to the transition zone. I was getting my shoes and helmet on and the #2 guy (Tim Sandell) comes in right behind me, well he gets out of T2 before me, now I have someone to keep me motivated.
What would you do differently?:

Move faster and not drop my glove.
Bike
  • 28m 31s
  • 10.8 miles
  • 22.72 mile/hr
Comments:

I decided to ride the tri bike and got lots of (what the F*&* are you thinking) riding that thing in the snow and ice. But ah, i have done this race many times and this is my training ground so I just laughed back! So Tim and I are trying to get the snow out of our clips we both have speed plays so we pedal, kick our shoes, pedal, etc, I finally got them clipped in after about the 1 mile mark. I then put the head down and push the pace to semi hard on the way out. I see my rivals after the turn around and know I have a good gap on all of them. I push the pace as hard as I can on the way back as I wanted to win today and get 20 points for this race. Now If I can the next 2, I will have it clinched. Anyway, finished hard and the next guys was a minute back of me! I was very happy with the ride today. And I picked the right bike! Suckas! Nice on no bike training. I gotta stop saying that and start riding more.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.

Awesome job my friend! Wish I was there. I had to bag it since my back wasn't 100%. I'm definitely going to race in January and I'll be ready. I'd love to run or ride the course with you on a nice day sometime.

Keep up the good work! Get on that bike!
